NFT: Opinions on Sprint coverage

Steve L : 4/22/2017 4:17 pm
They have some good deals going now and I'm looking to possibly switch.

Opinions on quality, service etc please. I know they use Verizon's network so I'm thinking it should be ok. I'm currently on ATT.

Thanks.
I have always had Sprint/Nextel

There were periods of time when the service was horrendous. It isn't perfect but I have little issue with it now. I guess it depends more on where you live/work. But with wifi calling it is even less of an issue if you are connected through wifi. The unlimited everything plan always made way more sense to me than have X amount of data per month.
what locale?

But their own. They did purchase some of Verizons unused bands like 1900LTE but they ARE not on the same bands that Verizon supports. It's in the same frequency range but the parsing is different for each carrier. Overall Sprint has greatly increased its ability to deliver but the network is still very very small compared to Verizon. AT&T despite their claims is a distant 2nd and T-Mobile and Sprint are for the most part irrelevant to the big two. Sprint doesn't take down time and drops as seriously as Verizon does but their customer support is far better. Check coverage maps, grab an analyzer app and go to where you spend time and see if the 1900 band is strong there, if it is you should be good to go.
Many years ago I had a major problem with Sprint.

I was lied to by the Sprint store selling phones and sprint service to me and had significant difficulty dealing with customer service for 6 months until someone in customer service finally fixed it. Because of how I was dealt with by that sprint store and the previous customer service, I will never go back to sprint.

Sprint for about 2 years. I thought it was awful and switched back to Verizon. I would never switch back after my experience.
I had a terrible customer service experience with VZ

about 8 years ago. Switched to T-Mobile and have not had one problem since. VZ no longer holds a large lead in service/speed, and it's getting narrower.

The rate at which VZ is bleeding vs. T-Mobile is tremendous.

I have friends who were on Sprint and they were not happy customers...

T-Mobile vs. Verizon - ( New Window )
I have T-Mobile now and happy with it.

I'm on the Sprint Network via CREDO

and it is not the greatest network in the world. Definitely not as good as Verizon's, but I have been willing to put up with its weaknesses due to Verizon's terrible customer service and tendency to nickle and dime you through your bill. All of the mysterious fees creeping my monthly bill up and up. CREDO's customer service is excellent and the bill doesn't change month to month like it did under Verizon. I hated how I'd sign an agreement with VZ for 2 years, at a certain monthly charge, and then watch as the monthly bill got more and more expensive.

The Sprint network may not be the greatest, but you are more likely going to save a lot more money using them versus the chisellers at VZ
FUCK Sprint.

Great deal gradually grew Frankenstein on my household. We now pay a third of what we did with Sprint using Republic Wireless and purchased phones through them. All reasonable, and unlike the iPhones, they allow you to use a micro SD card to save a boatload of songs, photo's, whatever. Sprint coverage was weaker. Have to tightly watch the cell data (1GB/mo) with Republic, but the savings are fat.
