Hey fellow BBIers! As you can see I'm a long time lurker from europe. I'm going to be in NY in August and want to go to my first baseball game. I'm not a huge fan per se, but experiencing a ballgame is something I definitely want to do someday.
I have the option to go to either a Yankees or Mets game. What do you guys think is better in terms of fan/stadium experience?
Considering i don't want to spend a fortune on the tickets, any advice for seating and where to get tickets from, would also be very much appreciated.
Better Food arguably (both have amazing food)
Don't have to watch Pitchers hit, you get to see a DH instead
Better atmosphere and more full
Parking is a nice situation also
Plus its the New York Yankees.
p.s.--That being said, the Yankees are the proper choice if you are only going to see one game in your lifetime. Do you want to tell your grandchildren you once saw a Yankees game live or you once saw a Mets game live?
I'm also not sure about the seating. As I said, I don't want to spend too much for the tickets. I know that the bleachers are by far the cheapest seats, but that seems a little far away from the game action.
Also Yankee stadium looks pretty huge, so I'm not sure what the view is like from the upper level sections.
Red Sox at Yankees 8/11-8/13 (three games)
Mets at Yankees 8/14-8/15 (two games)
Yankees at Mets 8/16-8/17 (two games)

That's true. I'm favoring the Yankees a little bit just for that reason ;-)
Tigers at Yankees 07/31/17
Tigers at Yankees 08/01/17
Yankees at Mets 08/17/17
Marlins at Mets 08/18/17
True, but my options are limited anyways. I would go and see Red Sox-Yankees in a heartbeat if it was possible.
Do the Yankees at Mets. There will always be tickets available for sale on stubhub. There is really no BAD seats in Citifield.
Since you aren't a fan of any one team forget about being able to say "I saw this team or that one", but instead simply try and most enjoy attending your first major league game.
Good luck
TALE OF THE TAPE Tale Of The Tape: Citi Field Vs. Yankee Stadium - ( New Window )
If I went to Austria I'd go to Musikverein not The Konzerthaus.
Both probably great. But one is just more famous.

Hats off to you, I did not expect anyone to know about the Musikverein on this thread ;-)
But if you want to make that comparison, both the Konzerthaus and Musikverein offer amazing classical concerts. So maybe it's more about the game that needs to be exciting than the stadium it's played in, because both places seem to be nice.
Anyways, thanks for the help guys!
Was going to say this as well about travel. Getting to YS from midtown (Grand Central) couldn't be easier. Metro North vs. the subway is no comparison.
:)
