is the guy at the top of my wishlist for 23 so naturally he will probably be picked 22nd. I would rather target a guy like Shaheen or Sprinkle in round 3 rather than using a first on Engram. I like Engram a lot and think he would be a nice weapon for Eli but I just think there are better values for the 23rd pick.

I'm an Engram fan. I would love the pick. I am also a fan of Jarrad Davis, but the injury issue is real and concerns me. Not a fan of Reuben Foster. Too many red flags for a 1st round pick. It is always intriguing to see who is still available when the Giants are on the clock and then find out whom they valued most.

I don't see him developing into a 3 down TE, but I feel confident that we/he will get the most out of his ability.
That's more than I can say for the other available players they had at that point in the mock draft (Davis, Ramczyk, Robinson, all of the QBs except Trubisky, Charlton).
I never would've thought in a million years Funchess would develop into a good WR, so this guy (who I like more as a player) could too in the future if the Giants want to do that with him.
He is really a WR. A very good one, but a wide receiver - or more appropriately, a big ass slot receiver. He couldn't block my grandmother, let alone a LB or DE.
Any team that takes him will have gotten one of the best slot receivers in the draft, but he's really miscast as a TE. And the Giants are pretty set at WR and Marshall is bigger than Engram and can actually block to help out the run game.

Why? He's not a traditional Y TE, but he can be a move TE. He is big enough and weighs enough. They key is you want to force LBs to cover him.
That little 3 yard out that Tye runs and gets tackled on? He can turn that into a monster gain if he has just a step on the LB. Need a seam threat? Send Engram flying down the hash 1:1 with a LB, who wins? 3rd down? Look for this kid to move the chains.
The threat of Engram is only enhanced by keeping him at TE, why classify him as a WR and move him? Makes no sense.
if they have them rated higher than everyone else on the board. That being said, I just don't know if I can see them taking Engram. He's essentially a bigger WR. If they take a TE, it has to be an all around TE, no?
6-3 with 4.42 speed and 10-inch hands? That's just what the doctor ordered to help cure our anemic offense.
The Gians have arguably a top 3 NFL wr. They drafted a rookie last year that had a very effective rookie season and looks to be a player. You think the weapons are the problem? I'm not so sure of that. Unless our QB bounces back and our line blocks a little better, it won't matter. Having another weapon would be a luxury, but not exactly what we need, IMO. Not to mention, we just signed Marshall who fits like a glove.
Loves Engram, he would be a guy that would make us a very dangerous team, a player that will probably replace Marshall in time, he would be a weapon, and you can't kick about that.

Marshall is not a long-term solution. Shepard was good, but he wasn't that good. Our TE corps is a joke. Of course the lack of weapons were a problem (and RB as much as TE). We had no one who could take some pressure off of OBJ.
I saw enough to know that he belongs and he will be a threat. 700 yards and 8 TD's when our offense coudln't get going? Yes please.
I'm not sure another weapon is the missing ingredient because to me, the problem was Eli not being able to go through his progressions to make the correct throw. Some of that was on Eli and his happy feet, some was on the line's inability to create the time for Eli.
I'm not saying I don't want a weapon in the passing game, but I am saying that it's not the missing ingredient.
I think Sy'56 said it best in his Tight End preview: Â
The biggest hole at the NYG skill positions is at tight end...The lack of talent at tight end has made it a much simpler process to game plan around Beckham. There is no threat of someone bursting up the seam, splitting the safeties, and coming up with a big play...
I don't disagree, it's clearly a hole, but 2 things: Â
1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Engram isn't really an NFL TE, he's a larger WR.
2. It doesn't matter who is running up the seam or who is running routes. If Eli doesn't stop with the happy feet and if the line doesn't block better, he won't have the time to get the ball down the field.

Forget labels. Engram is "a versatile offensive weapon" (to quote CBS/DraftScout), and a match-up nightmare for opposing defenses. As for Eli, he's had plenty of time to throw to a guy like Will Tye - 42 catches as a rookie, 48 catches last year. Unfortunately, Tye couldn't do much once the ball was in his hands. Engram damn sure can.
Sy56 seems to think he is at least an average blocker and can improve Â
with the receiving skills and athleticism he has, why would he be a bad pick?
from Sy56's review:
"His quickness off the like and near-top level ball skills will make him a quarterback’s best friend on third and reasonable. While his blocking impact may not be as high as some of the others, he is no slouch. The two time team captain leaves it all out on the field each week and his weaknesses can be somewhat hidden in most situations.
*During the grading process, I thought there was a legit shot Engram would finish atop this list. He was close and to be honest, these two may be back to back on the overall big board. If Njoku is gone and Engram ends up being the pick, I wouldn’t be disappointed one bit. Engram is essentially a top tier speed WR that weighs 234 pounds. While he is a notch or two below as a blocker from most of these guys, he still got the job done in the SEC against linebackers consistently. In terms of what his role would be long term, think of how the Redskins use Jordan Reed. He has that kind of ability, if not more."

Exactly. Other than a day one solid starter at LOT (imo there isn't one), TE is the biggest need unless you wish to see cover 2 all next season. We need a seam buster if nothing else but to free Beckham.
Marshall was a great signing (will take advantage of one on one opposite Beckham) but to assume he can stay healthy for a full season is just not being realistic. Ellis is a great blocker and could be a good check down but isn't going to scare anyone.
I'd prefer Njoku, or Howard (for his blocking) but Engram would be a great weapon. Engram is extremely athletic and "clean". Two time team captain. Attributes important to NYG.
Defence was clearly champion calibre, offense wasn't. It was to predictable and had no answer on how to free up Beckham. You can only pick who's available. Anyone of these 3 TE & a RB to pair with Perkins (someone like Perine), and you have a vastly improve offense.
more explosive unless our OL blocks better. Adding Fluker and maybe a better year out of Flowers will help as well with Ellison and Marshall. We need to block better. It's as simple as that. Not sure if the answer to that is in the draft, but I think once we get average to better OL play, then you will really see this offense take off. Not necessarily by just adding Engram.

I don't understand. Marshall is one of the more durable players in the league. He's missed a total of 8 games over his last 10 seasons(Not sure if they were all injury related). The guy is tough as nails.
Yup.
Not really a big need for the Giants, but by far the BPA left on the board and thus, impossible for them to pass up.
Double Ditto

Agree, wait til draft day and sweat the Falcons out. Maybe someone jumps the Giants, BFD. If not, hold out for the 2nd rounder.
BTW, JR doing a better job disguising his pick(s). The mocks are all over the place and change day to day.

So I'd be shocked to see the Giants take Engram.

He was the only one who wasn't having fun. Ike looked pissed the whole show.
BTW, Colleen Wolfe is gorgeous
Jordan Reed is a bitch to stop.
Huh
I'd also eat my shoe!
