Just curious, should I try to get the BBI moderators to do more pods? Just let them know. I can do a draft Day 1, 2, 3 recaps if you guys like, but it will be very noisy in NE
Actually, I was weened on basketball. My uncle was a top scout for years in the NBA and at age four, took me on the road with him (probably to carry his notes, more likely to get me out of my grandmother's hair!). Then, one day in 1967, out to Thousand Oaks. Al Davis and I had a "confab" about his scouts. I called their info a waste, he told me to show him better. I show up the next year at training camp with a 4,000 page report on expected 1968 talent. I pushed like an SOB for them to get eyes to Maryland Shore. I was pissed for two rounds & then, the name comes up for Silver & Black - Art Shell, my man, all 179 knockdown blocks in ten games as a senior. Hey, somebody had to protect a drunk Bama QB they took a round earlier. Then, they take another of my boys in the 11th round out of Colgate (Marv Hubbard). I earned my check that year, but ole unc had to scout BKB by himself for the next decade.
Scouting Services Inc is a fully staffed scouting research group and we do football, basketball and baseball. All it is is Dragnet - facts, nothing but the facts. Always let the GM they look smart, I say & you do that by detailed info.
I got back into the BKB end in 1991, but my fave is going over to Europe to Treviso. The EuroBasket talent has been a great feeding ground for the NBA.
This year, I think their could be two guys over there that can go in the lottery - certainly point guard Frank Ntilikina out of Strasbourg & likely Barcelona small forward Rodions Kuracs.
Despite the NBA going small & him being 7/0, 250, the guy I really want to get my eyes on is Zalgiris Kaunas very versatile center Isaiah Hartenstein (purr-fect for what ails the Knicks, but hope Dolan chokes on a dog bone first)
Hopefully Dolan is a friend of Donnie Boys. Perhaps we can get him to be ambassador to North Korea? Oh, the days of Red, Willis, Walt, Pearl...And Nate the Snake!

I am certainly interested in future podcasts.
Thanks Dave
...loved your first pod cast!
And your posts on draft selections (and those from Sy) have been so enjoyable / informative to read!
Marty Blake wasn't a "top scout", he was the Godfather of NBA scouting (as USAToday called him).
I couldn't name a single scout in any sport except one guy in one sport, Marty Blake, NBA.
