Considered a specialty player, I would still take Engram

No matter how good your offense on a macro basis, you are going to face "and long" with some regularity.

Imagine being able to trot out a "package" of OBJ, Marshall, Shepherd, Vereen and Engram. If McAdoo and Manning can not manufacture a matchup to exploit, time for "leaving to pursue other opportunities."

Biggest potential problem with this group is trying to do too much and forgetting that everything starts with catching the ball.

I do not believe Engram will last until our 2nd.
I would be okay with that if he is a specialty player for 2 years

and can be the starting big WR or TE by year 3. Can he be that guy?
They certainly could use a Jordan Reed

Engram would fir that role.
Dave is high on him

Especially for the Giants offense
so is Sy56.

And say said he is a good enough blocker already as a TE.
just to prepare yourself

the Saints are maybe so enamored with him that he's their pick at 11
Jordan Reed Type

To me saying he's a Reed type is not a reason to draft him with the 1st pick. Reed is a good TE but you can get one dimensional TEs who can catch the ball later in the draft. Hodges from VT seems like a Reed type. Maybe not as good as Engam but would be productive downfield and available in the 3rd round or later
Football has changed

Engram is not a traditional tight end.. however he can be a weapon if used correctly. He is a player that can attack the middle of the seam and stress the defense which is what you want to do especially since the Giants see a lot of Cover 2 defense. His speed at his size is rare.

I dont think you need to get an inline blocker at the TE position. You have Adams and Ellison. You need someone who can push WIll Tye off the roster in all honesty.

Agree on Engram and Tye
I'd be fine with Engram

at #23. Being that he can also somewhat block and is willing to improve there, he's a considerable weapon. Yes, he'd do quite nicely if we landed him.
