NFC East draft needs: Is O.J. Howard the Giants'...

M.S. : 4/25/2017 8:27 am

...missing piece? From NFL.com (Connor Orr)

Shows draft needs for everyone in the NFC East. Sorta interesting, but I just don't understand how the F*** Connor Orr can make the following statement about our O-Line:

"The Giants are one player away from having a top-10 offensive line, though this could always be the year the light comes on for former first-round pick Ereck Flowers..."

One F***ing player???

Did Connor Orr watch any Giants games last season?

Well he is correct

that if the light comes on for Flowers, the quality of the line will looks significantly different.

I'm more concerned with Bolles being at his peak then with Flowers being washed up. He's still 22.

Bingo. Flowers may not be the long term LT, but he is young and still has a lot of upside, I expect him to show improvement this season. Richburg played hurt last season. I actually agree that this line may be one player away.

But that player doesn't appear to be in this draft.
That's not an outrageous statement

You act like the league is full of great Offensive Lines. If they had better play at LT. and could move Ereck to RT. They would be one of the OLs
No, I don't think we're close.....

Yes, I've read that Richenberg was hurt, but at this stage he's still a question mark.
Pugh is not my idea of a really dominant guard and he's apparantly fragile.
Jerry is not a strong player.
And there's no right tackle or left tackle....at this writing.
How that can be translated into "one player away" is beyond me.
If Flowers blooms (gotta love the analogy), if Richenberg is premium, if Pugh plays a whole year...then we're two players away.
how is "Richenburg"
UConn4523 : 4/25/2017 10:17 am : link
aka Richburg a question mark? Outside of health, which by all accounts he's recovered from, he was a top Center in the league in 2015 (after being forced into Guard his rookie year).

Pugh we all know the story on, if he stays healthy he's a very good LG.

If Fluker is nothing else but a road grader on the right side that will also do wonders for this offense.

Plenty to look forward too unless being miserable is your goal.
At full health,

Pugh is very good and Richburg is great.

The rest of the line blows.

No one will be putting the Giants' o-line in the top half of the league anytime soon.
flowers doesnt blow

he is not playing where you hope a high pick LT would but he doesnt blow,RG and RT where bigger issues for last 2-3 years i think they plan on using fluker at RG but have a look it him at RT during offseason/preseason ,like it or not i think flowers is the LT at least for another year

hart is the RT unless either they get another OT that can take that spot or they feel would be better at LT and move flowers over to RT,or they feel fluker could be better there than hart?

i can see ramczyk gone before they pick,so the choices if they plan to go OL in round 1 would leave robinson or bolles or if they wait till round 2 robinson (could fall there) or maybe garcia depends on how THEY fell about hart and flowers not our opinions on where the OT's stand,i think robinson has potential at OT but at least should be an all pro OG

they do need to open better holes for the running game to elevate the offence ,better pass protection to allow eli to find better throws also ,and boost thier post season aspirations, playoff teams can dictate terms with their ground game when needed the giants havent managed that since they lost diehl, snee and jacobs and that group didnt manage that till they got on a run late in the season either

snee made a huge difference to the OL when they drafted him in the second round another pick like that could do they same again robinson could be that guy but the OL class is weak so they may have to take him at 23 rather than wait till round 2 he may be there at the pick in round 2 but it would be a big gamble to wait ,if they go another way in round 1,which i hope would be a TE

He blows as a pass blocker on Eli's blind side. His technique is bottom tier which converts all his power into a tower of jell-o. Either Flowers sheds his bad habits from college in Year 3, or he's looking at a 1-contract NFL career, or journeyman at best, like John Jerry.
