NFT: windows 10 woes - can anyone assist.

Simms : 4/25/2017 10:03 am
Hi Guys

Anyone have any windows 10 issues?

I noticed a few weeks ago when clicking on Edge my home screen would flash and then shut off.

Honestly rarely used Edge as I started using Chrome more and it worked fine so no issues.

Last night chrome would launch, and the adobe icon would appear saying it has an issue, and click bubble. (nothing happened)

So now chrome would start and the header would appear still no access.

Tried to start Firefox and it would not load at all either. Just hung there.

Went into settings and made sure adobe was my default and Edge would still flash on and off, Chrome would not fully launch without the adobe error, etc.

Odd enough if I used explorer I could access online (limited)

I deleted my adobe but did not realize you have to buy it? Thought it was a free download?

Kind of at my wits end, daughter has my mac, and need to get some things resolved.

Any kind of 101 list to resolve would greatly be appreciated.

I have refused to go to W10

and am staying on 8.1 until I hear good things about 10.

Whenever my computer starts acting up, I simply do a "system restore" back to a point where is was working good.

I completely took IE off my computer and primarily use Firefox now and a lot of problems have gone away
Sounds like a virus/malware

Are you running antivirus software with an up to date subscription/updates? If not, get one pronto.

Also, I would download the free version of Malwarebytes and run that to check for/clean up malware.

Doing a system restore as noted above is also good advice to try.

As for Adobe, they make several different products (Photoshop, Illustrater, etc). If you mean Adobe Acrobat, the reader software is free. The full version that lets you create PDF files is not.

Windows 10 is better than 8. There, now you've heard it.
Can't help you Simms

but I too think 10 has finally been straightened out and I am using it on two computers without problem for about a year.
I suppose, "get a mac"...
