Consolidated List of Sy'56's Prospect Grades: All Positions

Big Blue Blogger : 4/25/2017 11:41 am
I'm sharing this per a suggestion in Sy's thread on safeties. I hope it's OK to post it. If Sy objects, of course I will delete.

Many thanks as always to Sy'56, Dave Te, and the other resident experts for educating BBIers like me who can't tell a Buckeye from a Wolverine.

and a tool for hindsighters to say "good value" or "jerry reach"!

personally, i rely on Sy's take more than any other draft analyst out there (especially when it comes to the giants), so it will be fun to compare the actual picks to Sy's rankings...
awesome Β
Andy in Boston : 4/25/2017 11:48 am : link
can we keep this post at the top for the rest of the week....to compare during the draft. Thanks!
As someone pointed out in the Safeties thread... Β

77 S Jordan Evans – 6’0/199 – Texas A& M
Should be:
77 S Justin Evans – 6’0/199 – Texas A& M

The other Jordan Evans (OLB from Oklahoma with a grade of 74) is correct.
beat me to it Β

Pretty conservative grade on OJ Howard here. Β

I touched on this in another Β

thread, but 40 first round grades (greater than or equal to 80 points). Although a lot of players clustered together in the low 80's. Should be good value there for Jerry

GuzzaBlue : 4/25/2017 11:59 am : link
in the top ten. I'm all aboard the Wormley train. I think he would be one of the safest picks for us at that spot. I don't see many weaknesses in his game and I watched a lot of Mich football. He was the anchor to that defense the past year.
I would love it if we snagged one of Β

Wormley, Walker or Willis at 55..
To those who say the value isn't there for an OL player at #23, Sy's Β
PatersonPlank : 4/25/2017 12:02 pm : link
list shows this isn't correct. If you look at our spot, all 4 top OL players are graded right around there (79-84). I like Cam and Lamp, but Ram and Bolles are also the "proper" value for us there, and they address a big need. The perfect combination.

I'd bet none of those guys will get close to 55. There were talks of teams trading with the Giants to snag Willis. I'd take Walker or Wormley in the first however.
Number of players with grades of 80 or better. Β
Kevin in Annapolis : 4/25/2017 12:07 pm : link
Sy has 40 total players with a Round 1 grade of 80 points or better (19 on offense and 21 on defense).
QB – 1
RB – 4
WR – 6
TE – 3
OT – 1
OG/C – 4
DE – 6
DT – 2
LB – 1
CB – 7
S - 5

And very generous to TE David Njoku.
Rates Reuben Foster Β
lugnut : 4/25/2017 12:52 pm : link
a 79 -- not even a 1st round grade. Wow! I think Sy is alone in that.

I have been on the Wormley train for a while now, but even I would have trouble taking him at #23. I would have no qualms about Njoku, however -- would love the compounding effect on our offense.

I get this feeling it's going to be Lamp.
There aren't 40 prospects with 1st round grades Β
Milton : 4/25/2017 1:24 pm : link
It just doesn't happen. You're better off reading this as 27 prospects with 1st round grades and 13 more who are borderline.
What is Sy`56's grading system? Β
Gross Blau Oberst : 4/25/2017 1:27 pm : link
If you look at the NFL.com grading system, there are groupings to go along with the individual grades.

9-10 - Once in a Lifetime Player
9-9 - Perennial Pro Bowl Player
7.50-7.99 - Future all Pro
7.00-7.49 - Prowl Bowl to all Pro Ability
6.50-6.99 - Good NFL Starter with Pro Bowl Potential
etc...............

What is the Sy`56 grading system?
Seems like the type of draft where teams' second or third round Β
Jimmy Googs : 4/25/2017 1:30 pm : link
picks might be just as good as their first rounder.

Except of course, us, since we have no idea what we are doing when the third round comes along

: -)
if the Giants treat this draft Β
djm : 4/25/2017 1:30 pm : link
like they have every previous draft they will come out of this one with 3-4 damn good talents over the first 3-4 rounds. NYG love drafting DL, DB and WR over the first 3 rounds. Those 3 are by far their favorite positions to draft. Let's add the caveat that receiving or the move TE can be included as 'WR' and even better. Giants did take Travis Becham in the 3rd one year. HE was a move TE.

Go that route, maybe mix in an OL over that 3 round period and away we go.
Thank You Guys Β

Very much appreciated. I started doing this yesterday. I great time saver.

BBI at its best!
I Formatted This A Little Β
Trainmaster : 4/25/2017 2:50 pm : link
I copied and pasted this info into a text (.txt) file and imported it into Excel so I could sort / filter on it. I noticed that for some of the potential draftees on the list the height/weight and college were swapped. Also, any college with 2 or 3 pieces to the name or draftees with 3 pieces made Excel import tougher. I believe I "fixed" all of those import issues.

So this should be a "more easily importable" format:
