Remaining RBs (including Charles - how bad was injury?)

Sonic Youth : 4/25/2017 2:25 pm
Pat Kirwan said "smart move by AP getting it done before 5-6 RBs go in the draft, take what you can now Legarette and Marshawn" on Twitter.

A discussion on Reddit brought up the point that Charles hasn't signed yet. Considering he's come back from ACL surgery before and played excellent, I'm a little surprised that this has occurred, and it makes me wonder how bad his injury truly was.

Anyone hear any rumblings about JC? Would you take him on a 1 year "prove it" deal? Seems like it could be a low risk - low reward thing. Yes, I am prepared to be flamed and know that kick the tires threads invite ridicule, but this one seemed interesting.

FWIW, I think the Giants need to go hard after Blount. Charles is a little redundant, and not really a power back (which the Giants need). Sign him for cheap, the leverage is there right now, and it negates the urgency of addressing RB in the draft. Vereen, Perkins, and Blount is something I'm pretty confident with (of course, adding an RB in the draft would help for Vereens inevitable injury).
if we don't get an RB in the draft

I'd be fine with giving Charles a shot on a 1 year deal.

Be redundant at all. When healthy hes a top 5 back... fantastic as a runner, receiver and in short yardage. His issue is the injuries. Weird that he hasnt been linked to anyone in free agency so far. Maybe hes contemplating retirement.

I am guessing teams have serious doubts about what Charles will be going forward. Rightfully so.
when was Charles' injury?

If he can't work out yet, then he's probably better off waiting, even if that means teams will fill their RB holes via the draft. I doubt he even has an AP level offer on the table right now.
