Derek Jeter, still baseball’s most recognizable face, and former Florida governor Jeb Bush have reportedly won the bidding to purchase the Miami Marlins.
Bloomberg Sports reported that Jeter, 42, and Bush – who made a failed bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination – were among the winning group to purchase the Marlins from longtime owner Jeffrey Loria. Jeter and Bush recently consolidated their efforts to buy the club, with their top competition expected to be Wayne Rothbaum, manager of Quogue Capital.

Wonder how many he had left after marrying Hannah?
Well played, sir!
Pretty hard to F up being a pro sports owner........
David Samson is the Marlins President. He was on Survivor. He also has participated in triathlons including Hawaii. The baseball season lasts 6 months. What do you do for the other six?

I stand corrected - But a team president is a year round job and I doubt any other president would go on reality TV , let alone one from a moribound franchise that doesn't sell out...
Im sure he has rich friends and his family itself is wealthy
You're surprised that the brother of a former MLB controlling interest owner has become an MLB controlling interest owner?

I didnt think that Jeb! was remotely that wealthy. I thought I saw during the campaign that he was worth low 8 figures. Good money, but not running a baseball team ownership group good.

Dubs was given that role to lobby for a new stadium. Marlins just got a new park. But the point is well taken
