ESPN aired a mock draft tonight at 8. Ranaan made the pick. I would not be happy about this pick especially with njoku on the board.
That being said this mock seemed to be a joke. Corey Davis fell to 30. njoku and engram weren't taken. McDowell was taken before us. a lot of shitty picks/decisions but didn't see it posted anywhere so I figured I would share.
Also, Not sure why all of his off the field issues aren't red flags.
Yea, i agree. I think he is going to be really special. there are a few players in this draft I love and he is one. The concern would be how does he make an immediate impact? talk about just going 10 personal and tossing the rock all over the park lol. I think he can be really special, but with OBJ, shep, and now marshall i think if davis is there the giants may field offers
Besides, while we at least appear relatively stacked at WR, who knows how a 33-y.o. Marshall will really do (and he's only here for 2 years)? Who knows what will happen with OBJ contract-wise? He might want such an insane amount of $$ that having Davis would help us absorb his loss.
" Everybody is worried about his age, but he's an OL they typically play longer. Andrew Whitworth was drafted at the same age."
It's not longevity, those three years means he's reached his peak, those three years were such an advantage that he should have totally dominated at the college level.
They say he's not strong enough...well a 25 year old SHOULD be, and it's questionable that he has the same growth potential regard strength as a 22 year old.
This is the one pick in the whole draft that I don't like.
Doesn't run great routes
So-so hands
Not a good blocker
Raw as heck
Ascending pass catching talent with elite athleticism and enough fight in his run blocking to believe that he can be lined up anywhere on the field at any time. Njoku should annihilate the combine with monster numbers in speed and explosion, but his play on the field shows he's more than a combine warrior. He is still growing into his body and has to add to his play strength, but his playmaking potential and elite traits should make him a first-round pick and a future Pro Bowler.
Me:less than lukewarm.
Odell scored 34 iirc. Very high for a WR. Eli was also high. It is definitely a factor for the Giants. Especially on the OL where you have to execute so many different types of blocks
And all these mocks are all over the place. It's nice to talk about who needs what and who they might take but people look at these mocks as if they are set in reality. Who gives a shit. They put these mock drafts on TV like they are real events. It's like chum to a fish for those who think they bear any weight. It's as absurd as having the drafts be a three day event. Back in the day when there was 12 or was it 15 rounds they did it all in one day. Now they need 3 fucking days for 7 fucking rounds.
