NFT: The Wall

Del Shofner : 4/25/2017 10:22 pm
definitely Pink Floyd at their best.
Link - ( New Window )
Darkside of the Moon
River : 4/25/2017 10:30 pm : link
is far better.
My favorite is Wish You Were Here
steve in ky : 4/25/2017 10:35 pm : link
and of course The Dark Side of The Moon is great as well.

I also think Animals is too often underappreciated.
Oh,OK
Marty866b : 4/25/2017 10:39 pm : link
Thought you were referring to Trump's Wall.LOL.
While I certainly wouldn't call it their "best"
GiantsLaw : 4/25/2017 11:33 pm : link
I listen to The Final Cut the most often, followed by Animals.
The Wall
River : 4/25/2017 11:43 pm : link
Has too much Waters whining about his Daddy and Mommy issues.
He had a tough upbringing in a time of war. We get it. But he got to hang around after it unlike the others in WW2 European countries, that perished.

Wish you were Here,is a good album other than the Sid songs.

They are one of the greatest bands ever.
Love it!
trueblueinpw : 4/25/2017 11:49 pm : link
Great album, huge part of my growing up. But I have to say that Wish You Were Here has held up a bit better over time. Dark Side is also great. One the all time great bands.
Growing up in the 80s, the Wall was a big presence...
sb from NYT Forum : 4/26/2017 12:33 am : link
...but I agree, I am more of a fan of Wish You Were Here or Dark Side. But still love the Wall. Especially for the Gilmour tunes.

BTW:

Dark Side = weed
Wish You Were Here = Acid

Trust me on that, padawans
animals
gm7b5 : 4/26/2017 12:49 am : link
is their angriest album imo, like it best. All their stuff is great
When I in the mood for The Wall nothing tops it,
j_rud : 4/26/2017 12:57 am : link
but that's a semi-rare occurrence. I also only tend to listen when I can listen to the entire album, which really is how it should be listened to. I think Echoes is Floyd at their very best. It's everything that makes them what they are in 23 perfect minutes. My favorite full album is Animals. Q

Animals / Dark Side...
Animals
bouchy24 : 4/26/2017 8:00 am : link
Anybody who claims to be a fan of Pink Floyd must mention animals as one of their best albums. Such a master piece.
Darkside is their opus
Torrag : 4/26/2017 8:13 am : link
...
Some of the earlier more raw stuff
Moondawg : 4/26/2017 8:13 am : link
like the More soundtrack and Atom Heart Mother has actually stayed with me longer.
Wall is their best...
x meadowlander : 4/26/2017 8:37 am : link
...simply far more massive in scope than their other efforts, multiple lyrical and musical themes interwoven in an a gorgeous D-major tapestry - Gilmour's playing is absolutely epic throughout, the album is packed with countless emotional peaks - absolutely gorgeous. It is the pinnacle of everything Floyd had done before, theatrical drama, technical mastery, psychedelic perfection.

Not only Pink Floyd's best - I always list it in my top 3 all-time rock albums.
I may be in the minority
DC Gmen Fan : 4/26/2017 8:53 am : link
but I think Division Bell has some great tracks;

High Hopes (probably my 2nd fav PF song)
Lost for Words
A Great Day for Freedom
Keep Talking
Marooned
I absolutely love delicate sound of thunder album, both cd,s
32_Razor : 4/26/2017 9:03 am : link
Have been in my 6 player inside my cars continuously for last 28 years.
I like the wall but feel delicate sound of thunder is more
32_Razor : 4/26/2017 9:07 am : link
Of a blues sound and features guilmour guitar playing which is superior to the Walll in my opinion
I heavily disagree
feelflows : 4/26/2017 9:08 am : link
but obviously it's a matter of taste.

I think their BEST is DSOTM.

In order of what I listen to the most:

Piper
Meddle
Animals
DSOTM

I don't really put on any other PF to listen to a whole album. Wish You Were Here is fantastic, but just overplayed. I love Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

The Wall/Final Cut are probably my least listened to. If you combine the two and take the best 10 tracks, it's a GOOD album I think?

Side note, since she's been 3 my daughter LOVES Piper. The Gnome/Bike are here two favorite.
If going by which one
RinR : 4/26/2017 9:23 am : link
I listen to most then Wish You Were Here is their best album to me.

Love The Wall though and saw the concert twice 32 years apart.

I too think Division Bell is underrated along with Meddle.

But whichever you rank #1 we all agree they are a great band.
I'm a Waters guy
BlueHurricane : 4/26/2017 9:33 am : link
I even like Pros and Cons of Hitchiking and Amused to Death.

As far as Floyd goes Animals and Meddle are tops in my book followed very closely by DSOTM, DSOT and The Wall.

The Wall movie Waters put out recently is excellent. Turn down the lights in the home theater and crank it from start to finish. AWESOME.
I probably listen...

to Animals most often, but my most underrated album is Obscured by Clouds. There are some A+ songs on that album...
I'm a bigger fan of Dark Side, but like all of Floyd a lot.q
yatqb : 4/26/2017 10:23 am : link
Comfortably Numb is a great number. Here's a link to Van doing the vocals, with Levon and Danko as backup singers, live.

"Underrated" debates get tiresome, so apologies in advance, but I think the More soundtrack is more underrated, since it's off the radar for so many people. And it has some really kick ass songs like "The Nile Song" and beautiful gentles songs like "Green is the Colour" and "Cymbaline."
