Could this be a replay of 83 draft?

32_Razor : 4/26/2017 9:31 am
trubisky, Watson. Mahomes, Webb, peterman (Pitt guy). I have seen all these qb's in mock drafts going in rd 1. As I see it, Cleveland, SF, Jacksonville, jets, Houston, Giants, Arizona have expressed qb needs as I have read below:

Cleveland needs a qb whether its number 1 or later in first rd remains to be seen. I think a key indicator this will be a repeat of 83 is if Cleveland does not make a trade and take a qb overall at number 1.

SF has 2nd pick. Do you really think they are settling with hoyer?

Jacksonville and Tom coughlin are not happy with bortels if Jacksonville does not trade down they could draft a Qb I heard they like Peterman.

Houston. Absolutely management loves Mahomes. Tom savage is a nice backup.

Giants, long shot but depending on how top of draft breaks they could bei interested in mahomes too or Watson.

Jets, same old jets, might draft Watson.

Arizona- Carson is brittle and they have been expressing interest in drafting a qb according to their beat writers.

Overall, my gut tells me the best qb's in this draft are peterman and mahomes in that order. Peterman has the strongest legs( check out his quads when standing in pocket), accurate, and has a strong arm. To me mahomes can be the next Brett farve

Forgot to add Kizer but think he is

In 1983 all the QB's were very highly rated coming out, and everyone knew (or suspected) a few would be stars. This draft all I am hearing is that the QB's aren't so hot, and that teams should wait until next years crop. In fact its highly unusual for the top QB not to be in consideration for pick #1. We will see how they develop, but next years QB draft could be really good.
there isn't one sure fire franchise QB here,. How can you ask such a

QBs will all be overdrafted. Trubisky is the only one who should go in the first round.
Kind of a weird thread

If anything, next year's crop might be similar to '83 in the sense that I could see 5 or 6 guys go in the first round if they declare, with Darnold or Allen playing the role of Elway and guys like Rosen, Rudolph or Falk playing the role of Marino.
To answer your question, unlike 1983, teams today

Are desperate for a qb and with the emphasis on passing and rules protecting the qb today (unlike 1983) teams will opt to take a chance on a qb with possible potential in the first rd even if they are not blue chip.
I think trubisky is the biggest question mark
32_Razor : 4/26/2017 9:41 am : link
On these qb's. only 13 games under center
Not comparing the greatness of 83 class vs 17. Just saying

For different reasons we may see a lot of qb's going in rd 1

Round 1 at least
There's no Elway in this group

Nor a Marino, who dropped because of false drug rumors. If there's a run on QBs tomorrow it's because teams are desperate, not that the class is supremely talented.

I will be shocked if the Jaguars take a QB in the first round. Not out of the realm of possibility, but they have so many needs and at #4, there's no QB worth that pick.
Are we talking quantity or quality?

Notwithstanding the Elway/Kelly/Marino trifecta plus Blackledge, Eason and O'Brien in picks 1-27, 1983 wasn't close to being the year that saw the most QBs drafted in the first dozen picks. That distinction belongs to 1999 (Couch, McNabb, Smith, Culpepper, McNown), followed by 2011 (Newton, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder). Whole lotta busts on those lists.
