"Most athletic offensive lineman I've done since I took over this area of the country. He's also mean on the field, which you love. I'm projecting him to get stronger once he locks into an NFL strength-and-conditioning program. He's underdeveloped right now. What you see isn't what you are going to ultimately get, in my opinion." -- West area scout for NFC team

yeah I saw that. Tyron Smith was 285 lbs when he came into the league.
He reminds me of Pugh, who it could be said is still the best Tackle
Probably add around 10 pounds in an NFL weight training program. The guy is a good player. Not sure why people don't like him. Our very own Sy compared him to Joe Staley. I know I'd be ecstatic with a player similar to Staley at 23 overall.
My sense is that BBI is way more concerned about his age than the
NFL teams. Why can't a 25 year old add strength and weight? Is the 24 ok, is there a magic age of 22? People bash the Giants for taking Flowers too young, and now Bolles too old?
is not that we wont have him long enough but that there is a natural strength development in any man's early 20s where you go from "boy strong" to "man strong."
Bolles has almost certainly peaked in terms of his natural strength.
that thrilled about is...let's say we take Bolles. Does he start day 1 at left tackle? Probably not. That would mean he's either starting at RT (which might actually be fine) or on the bench, with Jerry and Fluker on the right side.
So it's either Flowers-Pugh-Richburg-Fluker-Bolles OR
Flowers-Pugh-Richburg-Jerry-Fluker with Bolles competing at either side with a possible chance he starts at LT.
I know the draft isn't for the short term, but with Eli's window, drafting a OL that can't come in and start right away (a guy like Lamp for example can immediately start at RG) would be a big mistake.
if you hear him speak, just doesn't seem to be all there. That being said, Landon Collins isn't the brightest bulb either.
I watched his 15 minute combine interview with the reporters and I thought he was articulate, motivated and humble.
Lol. I watched that too. It sounded like the guy knew the three answers he memorized. He wouldn't be drafted for his brain imo. He'd be drafted because he's a sociopath who found the appropriate outlet.
All that said, I'd like the pick. Richburg is already our captain up front. We don't need math PhDs on our line.

We can use more meanness and hopefully his character concerns are a thing of the past.

I can also live with a guy that still has some development to do physically.
I don't know if I can live with a guy who is already 25 and still needs to develop physically.
And then we have to wonder whether Flowers can play RT or RG, so there's an additional concern.

Our RG & RT suck anyway. So I don't think it's really a concern 😀

Marty - am only comparing the weight gain. Not the 2 players. Smith is probably the best LT in football.
