Malik McDowell - Where Do You Expect Him To Land

adamg : 12:03 pm
Curious what the board thinks. Is he going ahead of our first? After our first?

His effort issues aside, the guy is freakish athletically. Would be a perfect fit for our 3 tech needs...
I think he goes in the 2nd at some point.

Based on potential and major lack of production he could go late first

If he performed like he had the year before, he'd be top 3 overall.
GBN has him as 33rd best player,

USA Today at 32..
Several analysts on big blue kickoff were really down on this

guy. One guy said if he didnt have the motivation as a senior to get drafted high to make a lot of money what kind of motivation is he going to have once he gets a paycheck. Another said he looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Another though thought he was at the wrong position playing outside and should be an interior lineman in the nfl.
Guess consensus is early 2nd then

Wouldn't mind trading our fourth to snag him. He would be exciting on our line.

Thanks all.

He is using the excuse his team sucked, which created a "lack of motivation" in his game. But, I would have the same concerns.

Saw a breakdown that explained that he was virtually the only real player on MSU's DL. I've also heard a team like NYG is best for him. I can see all of that being true. With our group, I think he's have plenty of motivation.

And the biggest knick I saw was a lack of pass rushing techniques. He only has a few: a swipe move and one hand bull rush type of thing. He could use a bit of coaching. He's a real freak though.
Not higher than where Nkemdiche went a year ago

I see this playing out
stillpoe : 12:48 pm : link
...like Nkemdiche or Hageman of the Falcons, so late 1st, or early to mid 2nd round probably.
I hope he lands as far away from the Giants as possible.

Don't forget their starting LBs were not playing most of last year too. He definitely played better on the inside but after Calhoun left they tried moving him outside and he struggled. As a MSU fan I think the team struggled early after high expectations and got into a real funk they couldn't get out of. I don't think it was just McDowell.
#55 to the Giants!
Welcome home baby!
I have him mid round 2

to MIN @48
I saw video on him before I read the reports of various analysts.
Ira : 2:41 pm : link
When I saw the videos, he looked great. But almost every single analyst says that he dogs it from time to time. So I still don't know what to believe and where to pick him.
I can see him
Dirt1 : 5:30 pm : link
Landing with the Cowboys. Seems like their type of player. Can also see them drafting Conley as well. They' 'll probably be all pro.
my guess
Amtoft : 5:43 pm : link
10 picks into the 2nd round maybe even from a team trading up. I will have to see who has that pick.
Cows, 1st round

They've telegraphed their desire for a pass rusher

It makes sense for this to happen. I'd hate that.
He seems like a Raider to me...they take a ton of head cases.
