If she says it, I buy it. That would have to be a three-teamer though right? Lee and Melo are good players, and LAC has trash to give us if the big three are off the table.
big player in his prime is joining the Knicks any time "soon" and certainly not minus Melo. Melo being gone (while a good thing) eliminates the illusion of the Knicks being a "who knows?" vs. a "they are going to stink, be young and rebuild".

you are right, biggest name they can probably attract is jrue, which we all agree is not something they can do
I know the Knicks are stupid, but they can't possibly be stupid enough to trade Melo and Lee to LAC for a couple of pieces from the back half of their rotation and a first rounder four years from now. Phil balked at Rubio for Rose and he's gonna agree to this crap? Let's send Blake to Miami and pry that first rounder away from them.

Phil made mention in the presser they talked. to a team that melo agreed. with but the deal was not aomething he wanted, my guess it. was the clippers
Phil can get multiple picks knowing they are so far out. Hopefully they would coincide with Melo/Paul/Jordan etc being "done" and the Clippers sucking.
I realize it's not a binary choice but I would take Rivers on his contract over maxing Jrue Holliday. I would also want their 2021 first and maybe swap rights for 2018 and 2020 - even if we are unlikely to use them, you never know.
I heard Alan Hahn say the other day that Melo to the Clippers was actually really close at the deadline. Austin Rivers was the main piece coming back...Rick Humpty Pinero also insisted the Knicks need to trade Porzingis. How that guy is allowed to speak about basketball boggles my mind. He should have been one of the ESPN cuts.
I think Phil should have pushed harder to make that Clippers deal. Knicks would have probably finished 4 or 5 games worse which would have moved them up to 4 or 5 in the lottery. There's also a ton of uncertainty with the Clippers this offseason. What if CP3 bolts to San Antonio? I think the market will be really narrow for Melo this offseason. It's either LAC Miami or Cleveland. Outside shot at Lakers or Boston. But I can't see him going to Portland or OKC.
Yeah I heard DiPietro say that about KP - what a joke.
Hahn has to sit there and pretend it's not the dumbest thing he's ever heard, too.
I don't have high expectations for any Melo trade, but if we're including Lee than you have to land something more substantial. This isn't JR Smith and Iman Shumpert here - Melo and Lee are good NBA players.
the Clippers don't even have young assets where you go "oh c'mon no way they include him". It's Brice Johnson, Diamond Stone (who was benched in the Dleague) and future 2021 and later picks. They don't even have any fun Euro stashes. I guess we would ask for David Michineau (French PG)
"NBA Comparison: Lorenzo Brown
Strengths: As a 6-4 PG, with a 6-5 wingspan, he has very good size for the position and a solid frame on which he can put on some additional muscle ... This is combined with impressive speed and athleticism ... By European standards, he's really explosive, plays above the rim, and has a very fast first step ... He's able to use his quickness in the half-court game to beat the his defender and is really effective in transition ... His shot mechanics are improved and he definitely has shown range and a reliable pull-up jumper ... Shows solid passing instincts, unselfish, and looks for teammates when the defense collapses after his first step ... His athletic skills can be used on the defensive side, where he puts pressure on opponents and makes quick recoveries and closeouts ... Still seems to be improving and could have some upside left to develop in terms of skills: Ball handling and passing are average but show room for improvement ...
Weaknesses: At 180 lbs, he's still skinny, and needs to put some time into the weight room, and add strength, especially to his upper body ... He lacks elite court vision and his decision-making definitely needs improvement, including pace management during the game ... This is leading to frequent turnovers, which are often higher than his assists ... Definitely not a pass first point guard since he tends to force shots and rely too much on his outside shot, which is definitely inconsistent. Will need to become a better vocal leader ... "
obviously not as a primary piece. If he ever can step out and knock down a 3 he will have a good role in the league. Don't know why he's only received 9 NBA minutes this year.
there will be some high profile/big salary guys moving teams this summer via trade or sign-and-trade. Maybe they can insert Melo into the merry go round and come out with something good.
have Johnson as a "must". An NBA "ready" big with some skills. I remember when Stone was very highly thought of (he has an old school game maybe not suited for today) but he's still young so I'd take him too. Melo and Lee for Rivers, Johnson, Stone, Michineau and the Clippers 2021 and 2023 1sts are probably the best we can do if we deal with them.

I wasn't as high on Stone. When I watched IU play Maryland he reminded me of Thomas Bryant except even less athletic, slightly smaller, slightly fatter and a worse jump shot. And I'm not even that high on Bryant to begin with. Would I take Stone as a throw in? Sure. But as long as Johnson is included first.

I feel the same way. I'm not especially high on Stone but as an extra piece I'd take him. Crazier things have happened than a guy like him developing.
was regarded as one of the top players in his HS class (ESPN had him 6th) behind Simmons, Labissiere, Ingram, Jaylen Brown and Ellenson. That and the fact he's tall are the only reasons I'd ask about him.
I like Jackson more than most.
For what? Blake to a 3rd team? I dont want what they have for Melo, let alone giving them a good piece in Lee for ANOTHER mistake contract.
Just a matter of time before Austin Rivers winds up a Knick

knicks clippers talked courtney lee trade at deadline and thinks melo and lee will end up in la

would it surprise you if knicks did a sign and trade for him and kept him?, probably take rivers as well
buyers should beware but I bet several teams will be willing to give him the max and won't think twice about it.

Like I said, I'm not a big fan. Clippers don't have much to give. I'll take more bodies over less.
you know phil is aaking for.him, he tried to sign him in off season
Kid probably did a bit of prep on the triangle and had Phil eating out of his hand.
