Tyler Austin should be healing up soon

Dude's raking in Scranton right now
Greg from LI : 4/26/2017 8:21 pm : link
It's not as if Carter or Refsnyder is some kind of sure thing ahead of him.

healed or not, he's on the 60-day - I don't think he's eligible until early June.

no disagreement - he's a decent defensive 1B, right? If he's raking and Bird needs to retool, I wouldn't be opposed.
Austin's on the 60 day DL
Greg from LI : 4/26/2017 8:23 pm : link
Can't come back before June
Didi is coming back soon.
River : 4/26/2017 8:23 pm : link
Then you can switch Headley over to 1st and let Torreyz play 3rd. Kozma is Girardi's pet.

Ahh thanks for that additional info..

Dumb question but he can play AAA games while on the DL or no?
I would give Bird atleast another 50-100 ABs
DennyInDenville : 4/26/2017 8:25 pm : link
Before even seriously thinking about sending him down for a quick trip to AAA
Severino has looked
dune69 : 4/26/2017 8:28 pm : link
so much stronger than last year. It's a short window, but he has my hopes up.
Lots of movement on Porcello's FB too.
yatqb : 4/26/2017 8:38 pm : link
.
Glad the Yankees didn't marry Holliday
DennyInDenville : 4/26/2017 8:40 pm : link
He's a nice player for the young kids and will produce this year at times

Just glad he's not here on a multi year deal.

Already thinking of DHing Carter or Sanchez more often and simply sitting Holliday at times.

At 1 year tho nobody can complain.
Wow, Holliday and Bird
section125 : 4/26/2017 8:41 pm : link
swinging like rusty gates. Holliday is just awful. Swinging through 92/93 mph meatballs.
Severino..
FatMan in Charlotte : 4/26/2017 8:44 pm : link

I think we've got our 2nd #1 starter.
Yanks as a team
Phil in LA : 4/26/2017 8:46 pm : link
Are K'ing quite a bit.
That is some serious heat
Kyle in NY : 4/26/2017 8:47 pm : link
on the fastball from Severino. Going right after hitters and blowing it by them

Yes, he does. Throwing a bit harder this year, too - 97/98/99.
Do we give props to Pedro?
DennyInDenville : 4/26/2017 8:48 pm : link
I hated him during those days but now I respect him so so much as a pitcher and was actually happy when I heard Pedro was helping Severino with the changeup in the offseason.
Random but to me looking back, Pedro is a top 10 pitcher
DennyInDenville : 4/26/2017 8:49 pm : link
Of all time imo.

Owning the steroid era with dominate stats.

Also that said Mike Mussina is a absolute HOF pitcher and must get in one day.
Severino really is a wild card
Stu11 : 4/26/2017 8:50 pm : link
if he can be effective there is no reason we can't compete for the WC. Outside the AL East the AL is nothing special at all.
Severino
Phil in LA : 4/26/2017 8:51 pm : link
Had a plus change through the minors then lost his feel for it when he bulked up last year.
C'mon, he spent one day with him.
yatqb : 4/26/2017 8:51 pm : link
If someone can influence a kid pitcher so quickly we'd have two dozen Mo Riveras by now, cause Mo showed everyone how to throw his cutter.

Pedro is one of the best of all time. You can't deny how dominant he was.

Good point.

Robertson did pick that cutter up a bit though. Think Mo only really thought he was the chosen one. Maybe.
Judge
RasputinPrime : 4/26/2017 8:54 pm : link
taking his walks. He is going to destroy this league if he takes his walks.
Bird single off the monster!!
DennyInDenville : 4/26/2017 8:55 pm : link
Judge scores ! 3-0
Fenway picks Bird up! Haha

so it's a single scoring Judge.

3-0
Betts with a monster play to rob Romine

fatass fan tries to pull the ball out of his glove after the catch is made.

In a nutshell.

RP, exactly. His pitch recognition this year is so improved. Last year he'd swing at all those offspead curves outside the zone. No more.

And Bird going the other way is a good sign for him, too. That's a good way to break a slump.
lol Mookie actually threw the ball back to that rabid fan
DennyInDenville : 4/26/2017 8:59 pm : link
Guy was crazy lmao!!! Wonder if they kicked him out

Bird actually got a hit!
Dave in Hoboken : 4/26/2017 9:01 pm : link

Love seeing Sevy just gripping and ripping
Greg from LI : 4/26/2017 9:01 pm : link
No dawdling on the mound, just goes after them.
Wow Severino
dpinzow : 4/26/2017 9:03 pm : link
Just ripping through the Red Sox through 6
Wooooo
bigbluehoya : 4/26/2017 9:03 pm : link
Nasty 3-2 boomerang there.

He's working out there like he's got a flight to catch.
Sweet slider for the K on Betts, and such a smart call.
yatqb : 4/26/2017 9:04 pm : link
You had to know that Betts was looking fastball on a 3-2 count with no one on.
Well, Severino looks dominant and full of confidence
DennyInDenville : 4/26/2017 9:04 pm : link
This is amazing to see from such a young stud

Small nit pick -
section125 : 4/26/2017 9:07 pm : link
Severino throws too many waste pitches. At 83 pitches through 6 with only 2 hits and a walk. Should have 10 or so less then that. To last into the 8th.
So far Holliday can't handle the fastball.
yatqb : 4/26/2017 9:10 pm : link
.
Anybody get a load of that fat slob Boston cop
B in ALB : 4/26/2017 9:19 pm : link
In the dugout shoveling seeds in his gullet and spitting them all over the place? What a gig that is.
This is why Judge
section125 : 4/26/2017 9:20 pm : link
should be hitting 5th (or 4th). Trust him over Castro and Castro is having a big year. (And I'm not anti-Castro)
Castro has been more patient so far this season too
mfsd : 4/26/2017 9:25 pm : link
Not like he suddenly became Wade Boggs, and it's a small sample size, but I think a big part of the good starts for Castro and Headley has been swinging at good pitches. Hope they keep it up
Who is that old white haired freak sitting
B in ALB : 4/26/2017 9:27 pm : link
Behind home plate? He always sits behind home plate at Yankee Stadium when Boston is in town too. He's always screaming and yelling like a mental patient.
That fog has to be playing some havoc
dpinzow : 4/26/2017 9:27 pm : link
The hitters must be having a real difficult time out there picking up pitches
Too bad, good at bat.
section125 : 4/26/2017 9:29 pm : link
Castro easily hanging with the 100 mph FB. Must not be deceptive at all.
Castro is a plus for this team
