NFT: Recommendations needed for day hike in western CT

NYGmen58 : 4/26/2017 6:28 pm
I am looking to for some suggestions on a moderate but good hike in Fairfield County (Ridgefield/Redding/Weston area).

Ideally looking for loop(s) with nice wooded trails in dense forest with good sights/scenery and wildlife. We are all pretty spry and can cover a good distance in a few hours but would prefer more of a "nature walk" than any sort of steep climb/rock scramble.

We were thinking either Devil's Den Nature Preserve, Collis Huntington State Park, or the Saugatuck Falls Natural Area.

We're looking to spend a couple hours not a full day or afternoon so any advice or feedback on the above parks/hikes/trails would be greatly appreciated.

to check on this later.

Have you checked out Devil's Path in NY? Probably more climbing than you are looking for, though.
Devils Den is nice

And you can choose your own length loops.

Trout Brook is also a nice hike with some good loop too.

I usually go and speed walk/jog for 2 straight hours, can get through the giant loop which is 8 or 9 miles. So peaceful and easy to navigate.

My friend said Trout Brook is closed on weekends, which struck me as odd. Is that possible?
