NFT: Civil War book "Campaigning with Grant"

Hey Guys I know there are a bunch of history buffs on this site and I wanted to share a great book with you, Campaigning with Grant by Horace Porter. This is a first hand account of the final year of the Civil War (Overland Campaign) in Grants Camp. The writer Horace Porter was aide-de-camp of US Grants and was by his side for the final year of the war. Great book, I think Grant is one of the best men this country has ever had and it is a must read.

Memoirs, I'll need to pick this up. Grant was grossly underrated. Won the west (fall of Vicksburg) the day after Gettysburg.
I think the drinking part was overblown.

The drinking was totally over blow

It is true that when he drank, he got shit faced but he knew his short coming and abstained because of it. You will love this book, Horace Porter was a accomplished man himself and excellent writer.
