Blount?

mdthedream : 4/27/2017 7:29 am
So what is the status on this situation? I really think he is a great fit for what the Giants need. A guy that can get in the End zone down near the goal line and someone who can block for the QB. He is only 30 years old so would be a steal at the right price. Hoping they would get it done before the draft so we solve a need before our picks.
Giants probably have a couple RB options they like in the draft

If they don't get them in the rounds they are targeting them, then they'll sign Blount

That is fine but would rather have Blount and than pick another position.
This

of course is if they see Perkins as the future.
I think there's real interest from both sides

however, if the Giants wait until after the draft to sign him, then NE doesn't get a comp pick next year nor does it count against the Giants that would take away their comp pick next year from losing Hankins (from what I understand). If true, it makes perfect sense to wait until after the draft. Plus, who knows who will fall in the Giants' lap during the draft that was completely unexpected.
OK

That would make total sense.
I would think Blount would want to sign before

the draft. Cause if the Giants select a young bull, they might not want him anymore! His leverage is really gone.

Giants hold all the cards in this deal once NE already signed his replacement and AP going to Orleans. Blount doesn't really have any options pre-draft as any team that would be interested is in the same boat as the Giants and don't want to lose a comp pick and have no idea how the draft is going to shake out.

From all I can tell, the Giants are the only team showing any interest in Blount. He's kinda at their mercy.

Agreed!
My biased choice would be Wayne Gallman, Clemson. Led Div I in yards after contact, can block and catch out of the backfield; gets the short yard.
Just don't put too much money on him in a foot race.
(He's projected as a late pick but I wouldn't be surprised if some team jumps early.)
I'd sign Blount and skip picking a RB

We can use the pick on someone else. Perkins, Blount, and Vereen is pretty good.

Very good point...I hadn't considered that & was wondering why JR was waiting Now I know!

Good points. I'm sure there's been contact between Blount and NYG. Wait things out and see where both parties stand after the dust settles.
That's assuming the Giants ever run from the 3 or in

You know now with Marshall it will be a ton of fade patterns in the end zone or quick slant passes. I would love Blount as well but with iffy OL that can't block, getting a big RB is probably not as important as an OL or TE.

Not to mention you'd probably have MORE teams vying for his services to comPETE with..
