Friendly Reminder About the "Rules" of Posting During Draft

Eric from BBI : Admin : 4/27/2017 8:12 am
As a friendly reminder, the BUSIEST days on BBI throughout its 22-year history are not the playoffs or Super Bowl, but the draft. And everyone has something to say.

We ask that posters be more judicious in starting new threads. Moderators will start new discussion threads for each round (to discuss picks for all teams) and before and after the Giants pick in each round. Most of the comments should go in these threads when the draft is being held tonight, tomorrow night, and Saturday (starting new threads when the draft is not being held on these three days is fine).

It's also fine to start new threads with breaking news, rumors, or other juicy information.

The reason we ask this is so it is easier for EVERYONE to sort through the chaos and find the best info.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Also be aware that because of the high traffic numbers on these days, the server in the past has gotten stressed. Hopefully that doesn't happen this year but it will get slower when the Giants pick, especially tonight and tomorrow night.

this whole BBI thing, pretty impressive venture. Good job Eric.
Are we allowing

Posts of the pick from Twitter before they are announced on ESPN or NFL Network?

There is no way to police that. We're not going to start two threads for each round. If you don't want the pick being "spoiled", stay off BBI for the few minutes up until the pick.
That's always the problem
Carl in CT : 4/27/2017 8:49 am : link
Can't stay on the site when picks are posted to early.
Two schools of thought here
GiantsRage2007 : 4/27/2017 8:53 am : link
For a few years I was on twitter and BBI etc during the draft and knowing the pick 30 seconds early was cool... now I stay off and/or don't look leading up to the Giants pick... two ways to go about your draft evening, each has it's fun to be honest.

But, seriously, besides watching the Giants actually play on game day /playoff games, this is one of the best days for football for fans. I love it.
Doesn't matter

BSPN will be in commercial when the Giants pick.

This is a fun time

Personally I do not care. I just didn't want to innocuously post something and find myself banned because it was actually against the rules of Draft Day posting.
I like your suggestion to folks who care about knowing before the pick
ZogZerg : 4/27/2017 9:44 am : link
is announced on TV - staff off BBI for a few minutes before the pick. Hopefully they take your advice.
Don't have to worry about me...

It would be nice

if Eric didn't have to post this every year. There's a reason it's necessary. People new to the forum please take note.

and I know there are other Team's Forum websites, but I can't believe how much you can learn about the Giants and Football all together on here. Amazing website that really brings the fans together and insight you can't get anywhere else. Truly amazing stuff.

And you can feel the draft energy with the site being so slow already.
It would also be helpful when replying to a thread
ErichBarnes102 : 4/27/2017 10:42 am : link
especially if it's long and/or already has multiple replies, to delete any unneeded text - no need for everyone to have to wade through what they've already read.

Just a suggestion.....

+1. Lots of really smart people on BBI, and the amount of non-football knowledge people share here is fantastic.
In the past there have been two threads
steve in ky : 4/27/2017 11:59 am : link
One for real time, and one that followed the televised draft timing.

That seemed to work well and didn't seem hard to have duel threads?
It is Silly to have 2 threads

Doesn't really matter to me either way but it seemed to work well when they did it that way in the past and may offer some people a better draft experience on the site if they were so inclined to repeat the strategy.

So I take it that it would be inappropriate to start a thread calling out JR as a flagellating butt-head if say he were to use an early round pick on the JPP of kickers. Good to know.

With NFL Network and a bazillion websites covering the draft, ESPN's indifference to the Giants no longer matters very much.
