He's already got more hits than I imagined he'd have all year. Well. If I'm being honest. His first hit was already when he surpassed what I expected.

He's been pretty underwhelming given his stuff. Dunn 6 innings 8 hits 4 runs 0 walks 4 k’s represents his "best" start 20 innings 26 hits 9 walks 9 k's 6.30 era, I don't think I'm being hypercritical with him. He's raw, but I think you can call a player raw and young and still acknowledge he hasn't been very good.

I mentioned the other day. Ignore the results. The bad? He got roughed up early. The good? He adjusted and ended strong. That's all you want to see... raw is an understatement.

the record I really like Dunn, I loved the pick etc etc. I just am disappointed with his season so far. The class of 2016 is not off to a very good start, I will say that.

All kidding aside Tim Tebow has proven to truly be a freak of nature athlete. To be passable in the SAL despite a decade away from baseball (all of the hype aside I didn't come across any real evidence he was viewed as a big HS baseball player. Some coaches hyperbole after the fact etc) but credit where credit is due, total props.
I 1,000% eat crow about Tebow
Shecky : 4/27/2017 9:58 am : link
He has earned any and everybody's respect in son may ways.

Also more importantly - it isn't just the 16 draft class. Every class has disappointed this season so far. And I hate to say it, but it is kinda expected. The Mets created a world class farm machine. But have not replaced the talent. And it's not quite the same. And hasn't been for a while. So it isn't surprising to me that the lower levels aren't developing while the upper still is. Needs to be restructured/fixed asap

It may be a coincidence but losing DePo (and others) to other teams (DePo to the Browns) seems like it's taken a toll. They had a bunch of very highly respected lesser known scouting/executive types that found other jobs (and good for them) but I don't hear the same type of rave reviews for guys they brought in (if they even were replaced). I was pretty underwhelmed by their draft last year even when it happened. They took quite a few low upside college players that looked like "Cyclones" (I'm not talking about Dunn/Alonso.

This is 100% my stance as well. There is a contingent of people on MMO dismissing it because of his age. Makes literally zero sense to me. He's been out of baseball since high school. His age should have literally nothing to do with anything. Is human eyesight/coordination better at 29 than 22 or something? He has some sort of a biological advantage? lol. Now if he had been playing for the last 10 years and had 10 years worth of experience on them that's totally different.

Merandy is near a Sally League record for consecutive scoreless innings, he currently sits at 28.1 to start the season.....

"Gonzalez is now approaching a South Atlantic League record. The longest consecutive scoreless inning streak belongs to Ted Carson (39.2). The right-hander accomplished that feat as a member of the Savannah Cardinals in 1984.

Not to be forgotten, Tim Tebow recorded his third multi-hit game in just six days. The outfielder is 9-for-20 (.450) at the plate during that span with three runs scored, three doubles and a triple."

Can The Teebs play 3B ?? HA !!
Age
DanMetroMan : 4/27/2017 10:15 am : link
is silly. This is baseball, I would buy it if he were 29 playing college football or even basketball. He'd be a "man" vs. much younger/developing men/buys but his age if anything is a detriment. He doesn't have the muscle memory/reps that someone playing from 12-22 would have (which is likely part of the reason his throwing is so bad, OF defense so rough). The fact he's been able to do this is pretty remarkable.

Mets 1B/3B prospect Jhoan Urena has the 5th best OPS (.977) in the Florida State League. Impressive 16 walks to 13 K's.
