I think its going to be an LB

BigBlueDownTheShore : 4/27/2017 9:29 am
and for 1 reason. Outside of Goodson, we have no LBs under contract next year. Picking one high can give you a cost control player. I didn't even think about it until I heard Dave TE and Sy discuss it last night.
Davis or Bowser would be great picks...

I think the pick at #23 will be at least 190 LB.

Could be as much as 320 LB. Just a feeling.

Aren't trolls typically more than 320 lbs?
That d be great

Just so it s not one of the OL men. That feels like a reach.

Couldn't agree more. Bowser is really enticing because of his ability to rush the passer. Almost fills two needs for us with one player. Both would add much needed LB speed.
I

would like Bowser.

Agreed I think the pick is going to be Davis or Bowser. I am very concerned that Davis will be picked right before the Giants maybe by the Colts.
This should go in the pre draft thread

The Giants don't have any LBs under contract other than Goodson.
Jimmy Googs : 4/27/2017 9:39 am : link
Doesn't sound like an organization that covets the position?

Oh, I forgot. They don't.

Based on MOcks that are LOADED with Edge Rushers, RB's....
Rafflee : 4/27/2017 9:41 am : link
Mayock doesn't project a single DT in the first round...and very few Offensive Linemen. That might mean that any team might find that their own #1, #2 at those positions is available late in round 1.

I expect a Defensive Tackle or a Receiver--- based on Mocks showing that those positions will have been Under Drafted at 23.
Not to continue to harp on this...
ryanmkeane : 4/27/2017 9:41 am : link
but why would Bolles be a reach but Bowser wouldn't be? Bowser is ranked anywhere from 25 to 50. Bolles is in the consensus top 30 among most scouts/draft people.
DT, WR, OL
Rafflee : 4/27/2017 9:44 am : link
based on Mocks showing those positions Under Drafted up to the 23rd pick.

The Giants will find they're Favorite SOMETHING at that pick---not an edge rusher, and probably not an RB or a TE

I'm not predicting, but an outside chance that they see a Franchise QB at 23 and Draft him.... they may feel they get the "same guy" at 2nd round as at 23, so they could QB @ 23, if that's the case.
LB might be the lowest priority/need on the team
BillT : 4/27/2017 9:47 am : link
We have greater needs at OL, TE, DL, RB, and both DB and WR are always greater priorities for the Giants compared to LB. But, hey, anything can happen.
a LB

.
I agree about LBer...
M.S. : 4/27/2017 9:56 am : link

...maybe even trading up in Round One to get one Jerry Reese really covets!
if there's a LB with edge rushing ability like Bowser
giants#1 : 4/27/2017 10:00 am : link
or maybe Watt, I can see it. Otherwise, you can solve the same 'issue' by drafting LBs on day 2/3.
Follow the salary cap expenditures
JonC : 4/27/2017 10:01 am : link
and past track record, an LB isn't very likely.
As much as I'd like the Giants to break their 33-year tradition...
Klaatu : 4/27/2017 10:02 am : link
And draft a Linebacker in the 1st round, I get the sense that if they do it will be Zach Cunningham, not Jarrad Davis or Tyus Bowser. Just a gut feeling.
i dont think jerry places the same value
msh : 4/27/2017 12:33 pm : link
at LB the fans do, i get the sense he places the DL,OL and DB position far higher and thinks if you can bottle up the offence on the front and back ends of defence.you dont need the same caliber of LB to play mop up duty and protecting the QB or adding a WR also rank ahead of his priorities at the position also

Unfortunately true.

Well, I think it depends on what kind of LB you're talking about. I think he's been looking for a LB that can also rush the passer for a long time.
