(then again it was Teheran), Gsellman not on his game and having a disappointing start to boot. I wouldn't panic now but injuries not helping with depth.

Just really saying it "could" work out favorably if he's right. Have no idea what the issue is. If you want my honest opinion, it's only a matter of time with Syndergaard. It's not a matter of "if". It would be nice to get another playoff run or two before he has to go under the knife but it's coming. Another reason why I wouldn't extend any of the starters. Extend hitters... enjoy the pitching while it's here but let power pitchers walk and keep drafting replacements.
hopefully the rest of the season reverses that luck trend. As much as luck has gone against us, I think this first stretch has exposed this roster's weaknesses in plain view, so even if the pendulum swings back I do hope Sandy takes some steps to correct.
1. Need to start phasing in more athletes so the team's collective defensive range isn't as bad as it is now. Should also bring up the energy level of the entire club.
2. Need someone to get on base and make contact at the top of the order. Lucroy or Prado at the deadline would go a long way.
3. Need to add at least 1 arm in the BP.
In terms of #1, Conforto playing every day is a good step. Hopefully Rosario taking over SS at some point will also help (perhaps Cabrera at 3rd will help as well). Possibly even Cecchini at 2nd as well (Walker's range and arm strength seem a lot worse this year - result of the back injury?).
How do so many baseball players tweak quads and hamstrings just fucking running to 1st base? I'm 32 years old and haven't played competitive sports in years but I'm positive I could bust it down a 1st base line 50x in a row and not hurt myself.
why they didn't just put him on the DL so he can heal and be 100%. There's even a 10 day DL now to make this easier. Are the Wilpons hiring a cheap training staff or something? I don't get why this always happens to us.
There has to be an issue with this teams training staff. I don't know how else to explain it.
I posted few days ago, my buddy was on the Michigan football staff under Rich Rod and he quit because he didnt agree with the methods used by Barwis. My friend is a personal trainer and has his own gym in Chicago. He blames Barwis for this with the Mets since he is still employed by the Mets. I never really knew there were different methods of training but I guess there is
What does that make David Wright and his 100 terrible at bats over the last 3 seasons?
Why does anyone still care about David Wright?? He's a sunk cost and hasn't played in years. Were you counting on him to lead the Mets this year or something? Nobody expected him to play, if at all.
lol. I fully expect Cespedes to be gone for a month however. Actually I expect him to begone for 7 days... come back... aggravate it again... come back... aggravate it again... come back...
Jose Ramirez has been excellent this season. He was once one of the Yankees top prospects but could not harness his control and was moved to the pen by Atlanta. He showed flashes last season and just cracked the Braves roster. He has been their most consistent reliever thus far.

but JFC its going to be nice to play a different team other than the Braves, Marlins, and Nats. Holy shit. Never thought Id be so exited to play a team like the Padres before.
has very talented players, including the Phillies.
Im speaking about familiarity. You play the same teams over and over again they start to get familiar with your pitchers. Not to mention the Marlins and Nats see us constantly in spring training. Its a weird schedule to start the year but put that outside of my top 10 concerns at the moment.

The Division is only going to get tougher. Atlanta's top prospect SS/2B Ozzie Albies is the youngest player i AAA and he is on fire. He is batting .291 and leads the league in doubles, stolen bases, and runs scored despite starting the season off slowly. Amazingly he has never faced a pitcher younger than him during his entire career and he won't this year. Also they will likely promote a few of their top pitching prospects like Max Fried, Sean Newcomb, Lucas Sims, and Patrick Weigel along with AJ Minter who is one of the best relief prospects in baseball. The Braves have the worst bench in baseball but that will improve dramatically once OF Dustin Peterson gets healthy.
He's been complete dog shit and unlike Reyes who's getting paid the minimum and his hitting eighth, Cabrera is sucking up crucial atbats in the 2 hole. At this rate, I wont want his option picked up next year.

After what we just saw with the Giants, I absolutely think there's a correlation between poor training methods and players getting hurt. Wellman made a huge difference.
If the Mets were smart, they'd fucking get rid of everyone on that staff and spend the money to bring in top flight guys to help protect their investments (players)
It's happening too often to be a coincidence at this point. I'm sure some guys (Matz, dArnaud) really are just injury prone - but I am convinced that the training methods being used are at least partially to blame for this entire team getting injured year in and year out.
could be in jeopardy, they still had Harvey go through his full workout yesterday (something they never have pitchers do the day before their start, apparently) and his arm was still sore. Maybe the reason for the lower velocity and ineffectiveness?
This crack manager and coaching staff consistently put these players in positions to fail. I can't wait until all of them except Warthen is gone. I guarantee we'd be a much better team.

In his defense, I think he is playing hurt. He was hitting well until around the time he tweaked his hamstring.
RE: Lol, yeah this is a completely new concept for the Mets. Â
Oh wait, they've been a woefully inconsistent and BAD offensive club for years that lacks any accountability and fundamentals.
Can't wait until that big run we make in four months to try to secure the wild card. Should be awesome.
inconsistency is the whole league in April-June
If the NY Mets lineup consisted of younger not fully developed hitters then yes some of what you state holds weight. But its predominately veteran ball players who have been seasoned in the league. These guys are just slow starters.
Its April, get healthy , keep the pen fresh and lets see where things are at in 2 months.
chill

They are slow starters? Huh, could have fooled me with their April start last season. And inconsistency is not "the whole league April -June". That doesn't even make any sense nor is it factually true.
Listen, if we didn't go through this same exercise last year (and the year before, and pretty much every year under Collins) then I'd "chill". Forget about his lack of strategy, lack of feel for the game, his catering to underperforming veterans, his weird distaste and treatment of performing young players, curious BP management, etc....but his overall buffoonery in his decision making is an anchor to this team.
It was never about losing in April. I know it's early. I know it's a long season. But you take a month off the calendar and spot the Nationals 10 games....it's an unlikely hole to dig out of. When you only have two winning months out of six, then I'm sorry but you are not a good team. That was 2016...even though we made/lost the WC game.
This team is so much better than this and that is what frustrates me.
I had a feeling something was up when he didnt start yesterday.
I guess 2015 was as good as it's going to get for us.
I honestly think they let Gsellman pitch yesterday because they wanted him to miss the Nats series.
WTF?
Quote:
Collins yesterday said Noah was fine and wasnt why they went back to Gsellman. They never tell you the truth with any of these guys

Could be but the timing is just bad. Think it was Gelbs who asked him about Noah being ok in the press conf. Now today we find this out
Syndergaard tried talking his way into making today's start, but Collins told him no.
Syndergaard could be placed on DL and return Monday if team opts that route. Also then allows for guy to be called up.

Reyes 3B
Harvey RHP
Ender Inciarte – CF
Adonis Garcia – 3B
Freddie Freeman – 1B

Dansby Swanson – SS
R.A. Dickey – RHP

Gilmartin or Montero? Yuck. I'll just skip Syndergaard start, thanks to the rain. Maybe he will pitch in the pivotal Nationals series.

A sacrifice must be made to quell his thirst for players

He's not throwing any fastballs.
What the fuck is he doing?
What the fuck is he doing?
Especially with no outs. That simply can not happen.
He looks like Dock Ellis... pitching on LSD on a day where he didn't know he was going to have to pitch. Except he's not throwing a no-hitter.
This team is just so unbelievably bad right now.

Another error. I think I need some LSD to get thru this game.
Yes, all teams go on losing streaks but the Mets take it to a whole new level.
I'm so glad that the ghost of David Wright went to bat for Collins a couple of years ago and convinced Sandy to keep him.
Yoenis is a freak athlete and for some reason, the guy cannot run without pulling something.
I can't watch this shit man.

Hire the Giants trainer to consult
Can Tebow help us train better?
