What I am hearing...

ThatLimerickGuy : 4/27/2017 10:51 am
As I said yesterday, when you pick in the top 10 it becomes much easier to hone in on one or two players who you expect to be available when you pick and build a draft strategy around that. At 23, you need to expand your dart board a little bit.

That being said- my 2 sources are actually pretty much in line with each other, in what they told me.

There are 3 names that are heavily attached to the Giants in the agent and coaching circles.

1. Zach Cunningham- Vandy LB
2. Taco Charlton- Michigan DE
3. Charles Harris- Missouri DE

Again. DON'T kill the messenger if I am wrong. I hesitate to post this stuff but I know a lot of you guys like to hear what the scuttlebutt is. The Giants could be getting great at smoke as last year there was heavy word that the Giants coveted Myles Jack in the 1st.

Asshat!

Thank you :)
Thank you for this
Moondawg : 4/27/2017 10:54 am : link
also, (I was corrected for this and will always remember it:) it is "home in" not "hone in". Like homing pigeon.

There was a guy with much to share
about draft picks and whens and wheres.
He misplaced an "m"-
and I jumped right in-
with details about which no one cares

GBN has Harris
Big Blue '56 : 4/27/2017 10:54 am : link
at 33, while USA Today has him as 29 re best players' list..Haven't checked elsewhere
I would put charles harris on top of that list
mofti : 4/27/2017 10:55 am : link
I want nothing to do with Taco...
Charlton would be the best of the three
jeff57 : 4/27/2017 10:56 am : link
Harris would give them another weak side pass rusher. Have mixed feelings about Cunningham, but we need LBs going forward.
Perhaps' But
NYGNYY : 4/27/2017 10:57 am : link
I'm going to Trust in Mr. Mara's declaration " We will fix OL" until something else is Picked.
I'm not a big Charlton fan
Greg from LI : 4/27/2017 10:57 am : link
But I do think he looks like the kind of DE the Giants usually target. I wouldn't be surprised at all with that pick.
Sy wouldn't be happy
giants#1 : 4/27/2017 10:57 am : link
He has Harris as the #17 DE and Cunningham the #12 LB...
Really not liking the names
illmatic : 4/27/2017 10:59 am : link
that are being linked to the Giants this year. Which worries me because it seems like insiders and the media have nailed who the Giants are interested in leading up to the draft in the past few years.
Unless someone falls
Carl in CT : 4/27/2017 10:59 am : link
It will be an edge rusher.
Out of those three
Jay on the Island : 4/27/2017 11:01 am : link
I would prefer Taco Charlton but I would much rather take Jarrad Davis over Cunningham.

Huh...learn something new every day.
I'm sure Sy

Davis or Bowser please

Interesting news, thanks
Chris684 : 4/27/2017 11:02 am : link
I just transcribed Dottino on another thread and he mentions both Charlton and Cunningham at 23 so we'll see.
RE: Charlton
bc4life : 4/27/2017 11:02 am : link
A lot depends on a team's analysis of the "inconsistency" thing.
Cunningham is an intriguing talent,
shockeyisthebest8056 : 4/27/2017 11:06 am : link
but he seems pretty far away from physically being able to compete on an every down basis.

I wouldn't complain about Charlton at all, although the idea of drafting more DEs with about 5 under contract already seems like overkill. I like Harris less than Charlton, but the "overkill" thought applies here too.
Boy, I hate all three of those picks
PatersonPlank : 4/27/2017 11:07 am : link
Yuch. Better players are available at each position.
Not a fan of either 3
Tuckrule : 4/27/2017 11:08 am : link
Harris probably best of the 3 but I do not want any of those guys

Me neither. You're spot on with this.
All three are remote throwers

Are you Paul Dottino?

thanks for the color
hitdog42 : 4/27/2017 11:12 am : link
but to be clear there was zero from gmen land about myles jack, and was adamant about that.
Jordan Willis
Marty866b : 4/27/2017 11:13 am : link
Better prospect then the three players mentioned here. Hope the OP is wrong. Not happy with the names being attached to the Giants. Njoku,Davis,Engram,Jackson, and Willis would all be better selections then the three players mentioned. I don't like outside pass rushers who aren't fast.

is this one of those years where Reese just gets downright weird with his first round pick?
Hard for me to find any real remote throwers this year
jeff57 : 4/27/2017 11:22 am : link
There are a lot of players bunched up at a lot of positions.
zach Cunningham

will b an immediate impact guy on the weak side. excellent run and chase linebacker who is great in coverage. i dont get the hate on him. i love sy but dont often agree w him. i like harris too but what do i know? not a huge taco charleton fan

Taco Charlton will

end up being a steal if we get him.. I think this guy will be so much more as a PRO than a Collegiate player. He has star potential and will develop behind JPP and Vernon....

All the other teams know this and will leapfrog the Giants to get them

Everybody knew last year the Giants wanted Conklin. This year it's a smoke show.
I'm hoping this is a smoke show because people
732NYG : 4/27/2017 11:40 am : link
have been linking the Giants to other players at those positions.
Hopefully
HugeS : 4/27/2017 11:41 am : link
More smoke than fire. Charlton makes total sense from a size weight athletic traits perspective but his tape is pretty underwhelming. Guy looks raw as hell for the nfl. Harris is a Shane Ray clone minus the elite explosiveness. No way he's an every down guy in a 4-3. He'll get eaten alive in the running game. Cunningham will rack up 100+ tackles five yards past the line of scrimmage but at least he can run with backs and tight ends.
If they're serious about Harris and Cunningham it better be in a trade down because the cost to value ratio is just stupid.
HugeS
Marty866b : 4/27/2017 11:50 am : link
Spot on post. Not enamored with the players being mentioned for the Giants. Both Charlton and Harris are SLOW edge rushers. These type of players don't usually turn out well in the NFL. Edge rushers need quickness and speed and that is also why I am not excited about Barnett. I like Walker from FSU and Willis better then those mentioned. Picking a cover linebacker who is not a pass rusher nor a thumper against the run like Cunningham doesn't excite me either.
I don't think any of these three will ever, in their career, be better
PatersonPlank : 4/27/2017 11:51 am : link
than the guys we have now. I just don't see them making any impact. I want a guy who can start at #1.
If taco is there
bradshaw44 : 4/27/2017 11:52 am : link
It's going to be him.
Taco Charlton
Marty866b : 4/27/2017 11:59 am : link
Needs lots of strength work and runs 4.93. Has great size but doesn't play great. I really hope he isn't our pick even though he'll most likely be better then OO. Jordan Willis had more tackles, tackles for losses, sacks,(not even close)then Charlton and he is a very solid 6-4,255(with room to grow)and runs a 4.57. Willis will be a much better pro IMO.
I don't get the love for Cunningham
LakeGeorgeGiant : 4/27/2017 12:00 pm : link
I have to say I'd be pissed if they take him and leave Davis or Bowser on the board.
Thanks
Big Blue '56 : 4/27/2017 12:01 pm : link
as always, Limo
I believe they like Charlton as a 3 tech DT
jlukes : 4/27/2017 12:03 pm : link
rather than an edge guy

My frame of reference is limited, but I just don't see a first round player there. Bowser and Davis both bring more to the table imo.
