Here we go boys. Game one against Andy, Princess Karlsson and some French Canadian twat named "Brass-nards" or something stupid shit like that
Lineups remain unchanged. Wouldn't mind seeing Mike continue his strong play and make them regret trading him. Continue the strong play, continue taking our wins on the road and let's wake up tomorrow with a fucking lead in this series
Let's fucking go, boys. Twelve more fucking wins
The Remote will be on fire!!
This is going to be a frustrating series because of the 1-3-1 the Senators play. It's going to neutralize our speed game a bit so we're going to have to continue to play chameleon and adapt.
Have to exploit their blue line in their end. Karlsson is obviously a world-class player but they're not very deep at the position otherwise.
Would be great to get this first game and put the pressure on them to take Game 2.
Yeah, I anticipate another low-scoring series. Doesn't help that Anderson seems to play his best hockey against us every year too.
Hard to take much from the regular season. They did shut us out the first meeting over Thanksgiving weekend. Second game we put 4 in the net in a comeback win which actually turned us around as we'd been playing lousy for a couple of weeks heading into that game. And then the 3rd game, game 81, was a glorified scrimmage/practice as both teams put back-ups in and skated like they'd been drinking until 4am the night before.

Fuk Yeah!!!!
I didn't sit through three months of bullshit hockey to lose to fucking Ottawa

So a preemptive "Fuck you" to each and every one of you no matter what the result! You bunch of hipster dickbags.

Canadia is the capital for hipster dickbags. Good luck travelling 900 miles to your weekly curling match, you hoser.
Zipay says he's not playing.
Rangers lineup remains unchanged. Buchnevich, thankfully, remains in the lineup.

"Should" being the key word here.
I do think NYR will win this series - but you're kidding yourself if you think the Senators are just going to let us steamroll them in 4 or 5 games. The way they play the NZ can be extremely frustrating - the Rangers are going to have to switch gears and attack this team differently than they did MTL.
I want the Rangers to continue to be physical, though. I think it suited them well last series and can again here - especially against a team like Ottawa that isn't particularly known for playing heavy.
I hope these guys understand the opportunity they have right now. This might be the most "Stanley Cup-friendly" road they'll get.
Need to fucking seize this. We weren't the best team in the NHL at the end of the regular season but none of that matters now.

Let's hope he praises "structure" this series. Lack thereof was his, and the team's, low point, approx. two months ago. Smith has made a difference, as has, apparently, #5's enforced layoff. Still wish #4 was getting SC experience, not gonna happen now absent an injury.
MAB's abstruse, paradoxical observation about "the talk will be sending #15 up to the press box" and yet praising Rangers' 4-line depth still has me scratching my head. Buch will be an interesting linchpin this series, one way or the other.
Our depth in forwards is a strength, but as a group, in terms of snipers, they do not impress, except for Nash. He is our indispensable guy right now in the Iditarod. I hope he has a fuggin fantastic group of games coming up. Would be a sweet story. And let's hope Miller and Kreider are amped. As the big black pirate in "Pirates of the Caribbean" said, with Keira Knightley on the plank: "Too long!!"
HAIL TO THE BEARD AND LGR!!
And THAT's what I expect from the Blue Shirts tonight. ELECTRICITY.
I don't even know where the fuck Ottawa is. I mean, I know it's north of where I am right now, but where is it? Is it near Toronto? Is it near Montreal? Is it in between? Is it like the Bermuda Triangle of Canada? Who knows? Fuckin mystery folks. Mystery.
Somehow, the Rangers Seven-Five-Seven made it there yesterday afternoon and landed safely.
I want the Rangers to stomp a fuckin mud hole in The Bermuda Triangle of Canada. Abuse them like I abused my carrot days after getting that sweet poon way back in 1990.
LGR.

Definitely on reddit hockey page.
Officials are doing great. In fact, there should be at least three more penalties against the Rangers.

But that's because Sydney Crosby is a special special guy who earns all the calls he gets. Let's at least be honest about it.

and we're a long way from that...officiating in a possible Pittsburgh series will be even worse than what we saw with Montreal, both in Pittsburgh and at MSG
But that's because Sydney Crosby is a special special guy who earns all the calls he gets. Let's at least be honest about it.
I could understand why Montreal gets calls at home because they are the Habs and they're like the Yankees or Lakers with how much they've won over the years. Could never understand why the Penguins, who almost got moved before Crosby due to lack of fan support, get those calls.
1st period over and Lundqvist practically stood on his head to keep it scoreless

You can say that again -- so I will.
There were some playoff games where Brodeur didn't face 21 shots in a game because of the pre-lockout trap rules

Pardon. I started drinking two hours ago. But what the fuck you talkin about?
We need to play Better than that first period. Shake off the rust. Let's go.
Just adding to the Henrik love over here
Hopefully the rest of them can get rolling, tho last 3 games this is right around when NYR has started taking over...
Sens on D hasn't looked as scary given all the structure hype leading in at least for the 1st period, tho Anderson's made several great saves even if just 12 SOG
ha was just thinking the same. sounds like there's about 150 ppl in attendance.
I've done zero research but I would bet this is one of those series where it would be cheaper to fly yourself up there stay at a ritz two nights and buy tickets off stubhub ... Then go to game 4 or 6 at msg

This might be the quietest playoff crowd in recent memory. This is right on par with our Game 3 vs. MTL.

I would bet you're right.. or at least close.
Whoever tried making that cross ice pass earlier in that shift.. really stupid play. We had an easy clear and that allowed them to keep in.
AV had to use this TO here.
This is the type of performance that just demoralizes the opposition.
And Miller looks like his head is in feathers he is so not sharp, a few minutes ago he took his sweet ass time wheeling between the circles and by the time his pirouette was done he had a d-man on him.
MAB, you mean you're not placing my reference to a ten day old post?? LOL
A lot of announcers do that. Drives me nuts.
And the goalie played it. That shouldn't be icing.
I didn't see it.
Kreider, Hayes, and Miller all really need to wake up. We need those guys and they're all playing like shit.
I didn't see it.
I thought the NHL has hybrid icing, not no-touch icing?
Quote:
the goal line or after it, in no-touch icing (like the NHL has) the goalie can play it after the goal line and icing still gets called if appropriate.
I didn't see it.

Yea, you're right, it's technically hybrid, but the defensive team doesn't need to touch it to be icing, they just are supposed to be at the face off dot first and the goalie can play it behind the goal line without negating icing.

Got it, thanks.
We better win game 2.
Really fucking frustrating.
Garbage game. Better win on Saturday.
I still don't know which team this is - the team that's gets its shit pushed in out there every couple of games, or the team that rolled Montreal three games in a row.
Just a fucking pathetic disgraceful effort tonight. Pathetic. Maybe (I hope) they just came in tonight under rating Ottawa. We'll lose in 4 or 5 if whatever the fuck that was tonight is our series compete level. Burn the fucking tape that was awful.
Garbage game. Better win on Saturday.
agree with this. things just seemed a tad off the entire game other than Hank, who deserved much better. would be wonderful if Kreider or Miller can show up at some point this postseason...
just insane that Hank makes a highlight reel worth of saves and we lose on that bullshit. fucking brutal.
Once again they are making Hank do it all and its pissing me off. I accept poor defense with this group, the talent level is what it is. But these forward better start stepping it the fuck up.

At least Kreider was somewhat involved tonight. At one point in the game, I wondered what happened to Nash and Stepan? While everyone is focusing on the end result, Step had a dreadful shift on the GW goal. Even Zucc can't lift the nothingness of Hayes and Miller. Too many of the forwards are MIA.
and goalies have said most players don't realize how hard the bad angle shots are to save (and they showed the Crosby goal off Hank's head).
I think Hank would like to have that back obviously and no doubt it's what you'd call a soft goal, but that angle and the tip off Stepan makes it harder than some people think.
Just have to hope Hank has a short memory.
Flat.
I hate to point at 1 play in a hockey game. but when they were up 1-0 with about 7 minutes left in the 2nd, Kreider made that horrible, lazy clearing attempt up the middle that was kept in, and from then on it seemed like the ice was tilted towards the Rangers net.
They didn't sell out a single first round game, and now they had 16K last night.
This is so not true. Step is playing pretty huge minutes and generally drawing the toughest assignments. He always does. It isn't sexy, but he's very very solid.
Nobody has brought it up because it isn't true.
That's not to say they necessarily did.. I don't know what the collective mindset of the team was. But that was the type of game they played.
I expect a much more focused effort tomorrow and a win.
Game 1 is where you size up your opponent and see how they're going to play you and from there, you've got to make adjustments and start formulating a plan of attack. These series' are a chess match. We just need to counter and I believe we will.
As I said from the jump, though.. this was never going to be a short series.
Because if last night is an indication of what we can expect to see this series, its going to be a short series going the other way. I'm surprised by how poorly we played. Maybe worse than the Montreal game 3.
Wonder why. Usually it seems like teams are good about letting personnel interview for positions that are a step up.

I read they asked Drury and he said he wasn't ready, so the Rangers said no.

That would make sense, if he's not ready, but if that were the case I think it would be worded differently, more like Drury declines to meet with Sabres.
When the Rangers do it, then it means the Sabres are likely to do the same when and if the request is made the other way. They would have been better off having Drury reject them IMO.
and FWIW I read given his rapid rise in the organization, the Rangers just want to keep Drury.
Stepan: ‘I’ve stunk since the playoffs started’ - ( New Window )
Any validity to that statement?
Any validity to that statement?
Anaheim with double edmontons shots for/against but still losing.
Any validity to that statement?
I will take any advice even if by brodeur we can get at this point. 13 non empty net goals in 23 periods - I think half of those goals are by defense or 4th line - it's a miracle our season isn't already over. Beyond pitiful
