I would hesitate to say that this is even asshat info. Just a Giants friend of mine happened to talk to an agent.
Agent said, dont be surprised to see a trade up for Mahomes. Said McAdoo loves him and has really been lobbying for him and because no one else is pounding the table for anyone else at #23 it is a possibility.
Mahomes at 23 would surprise me and a trade up for him would shock the hell out of me.
Roast away.
This. Plus the cost of trading up when trying to add to a team ready to contend now.
Calm the f*** down.
Calm the f*** down.
The same info came from the media too.
More Favre than Rogers.

Yeah he's expected to go top 10, we're not moving up that many picks. If he or a QB they love slides to us I think it possible. Still think they want a Day 1 starter with the 1st pick.
Yikes.

Which doesn't necessarily make it more credible. Rumors are rumors. This time of year it's more difficult to trust what you hear.
And it might be 100% true McAdoo loves Mahomes. Coaches have opinions on college players all the time. Going through the process of trying to move up is no small task, and it's not in keeping with how the Giants operate at all.

What the hell are you talking about... where exactly is Mahomes expected to go top ten?
Who said he did?
There's nothing wrong with planning ahead. Packers taking Rogers is a classic example. But I wouldn't trade up to do it.

Not seeing what your point is. I understand how and why the Giants operate. I was replying to the original comment that we should disregard this rumor because it was from a "friend of a friend."
Maybe they're looking to move up for McCaffrey or Howard? I'm just trying to rationalize. God I hope this isn't the case.

I inferred from Phil's post that Mahomes makes incredible sense for McAdoo because Mahomes reminds Phil of the last two Packers' franchise QBs.
Considering Rodgers' and Favre's games are considerably different, I didn't know what else was the common thread between the two of them other than the Packers.
If the Giants target a QB early, you can bet your booty that they know something we don't.
Trading up for him? Not so much.
I would rather look at it as Reese having too many functioning brain cells to do it.
He doesn't have the balls? Wtf? Maybe he doesn't have the balls because it would be a stupid move? Nope, that would go against your anti Reese agenda, right?
Could you imagine? It may be worth it just to watch the place implode. Pure entertainment

Eli would be sacked 3 different times on that play.
Exhibit A...

I mean we already had people screaming to put in Nassib. Good lord it would be epic. A sick part of me is almost rooting for it to happen
I wonder if some of BBI actually follows this team. Eli has a no-trade clause. If he's healthy, he under center. Ownership will not allow a 2-time SB MVP making $15 mil/yr to ride the pine in favor of what a 2nd year HC on a 3 year contract wants.
In his own words. Interesting, and perhaps some insight into this guy.
Keeping him around beyond this season after trading up for Mahomes, with what that will take, and continuing to pay him big money would make this situation even more wacked.

Why? Rogers sat behind Favre for a couple of years.

It's not ideal, given some of the dead money, but it's not impossible. If they commit to that, anything could happen in-season.

Even if you ignore how much of an outlier that was (and how the players were different), the Packers took Rodgers because he fell to them.
The Giants would be trading significantly valuable picks and then doubling down an tying a huge amount of cap space to Eli -- there's only so many resources a team has.
If EA taught anything to Reese, it is that if you have conviction about a franchise QB, you do what it takes to get him

I've said I wouldn't trade up for him.
We're going to draft a guy whose been in the NFL for 6 seasons? Seems like a huge set of balls to me.

Yeah but when do you give up on a QB on your roster that has already proven to be a franchise QB and gamble the teams future going for another one?
EA had it a little easier in that he didn't really have a franchise QB on the roster so it was worth trading for a guy that he was convinced was just that.
but most of the NOOOO is all about Eli has 2 or 3 years left.
Asking any QB, including Eli, to carry the team in his last sunset years is insane. So what you're asking for is decent QB play. Why would anyone settle for 2 or 3 years, if they can get 10 years? If you don't think M, or whomever, can get you decent QB play, say so. Eli's numbered days don't have anything to do with the quality of any QB potentially picked.
It is rare that a low first round, or below, QB is really a keeper. IF you think there's one there, and you're on the clock, only a fucking moron says no, Eli has 2 or 3 more years left in him. It is all about IF you think there's someone there, and NOT about Eli's numbered days. Very few people actually say anything specific. just the mantra of 'next year is so much better for QB'
You would have to be convinced that it wasn't possible to win another championship with Eli even if he was given some more weapons with those picks.
