That is my concern. Is he a real TE or just a WR in disguise? Can he block? God knows we need better blocking from our TE's.

With Foster and Cook on the board.

You would prefer a RB with a bad shoulder and a posse, or an underachieving, arguably lazy DT to a 6'3" 4.42 speed Jordan Reed clone?

Is the Giants obviously have protection issues. If this guy struggles blocking, how does he play? He's not playing over OBJ or Marshall outside and he's not playing over Shep in the slot.

So what do they do? Base 4 wide?

They are banking on Ellison helping the blocking scheme, and I hope planning on picking an OL player next

That is what Rhett Ellison is for
So do they try to add 20-25lbs to this kid

He can gain at least another 10-15. His body control makes him special as a TE projection

Foster is an impact LB... best one in the draft

Cooks is supposed to Devonte Freeman - yes please- Foster a play making ILB - when was the last time you didn't crave one? And we get a TE that can't block.

too many flags with Foster, Cam, etc.
You just know DAL
Rflairr : 11:01 pm : link
is going to get Foster
I'm very glad that the Giants were able to keep this choice quiet.
Ira : 11:01 pm : link
That's the professional way to do things.
Love the Raiders stole Conely

I don't know, don't like a limited player at 23 overall. Just seems like a luxury pick given his skill set.
Gimme Asiata or Dawkins

Sorry all, misread that

Foster appears to be an injury risk

You cant have that many players on the field. If you have two TE in and a RB the other TE would be the 3rd reciever, not the 4th and Shepard would be on the bench.

I hope they do. LBs don't cover WRs. Their secondary and DL are hurting. A LB would be ideal
In 2002 the Giants had a dynamic
Dave on the UWS : 11:04 pm : link
Passing attack with Shockey on one side of the field and Toomer on the other. This guy creates major match up problems for teams especially when they want to dbl Beckham and play Cover 2. Good luck with that now.

This x 10000000000p00000000

This guy is going to make cover 2 obsolete. He is going to make us better in 3 ways: take heat off of Odell, take heat off of SS and give us a seam threat.

And who said he CANT block? He was never asked to. His body control alone will help in addition to him gaining a dime or two.
Emil
WillVAB : 11:09 pm : link
Yes. He had blocking issues in college. He's gonna struggle with it in the pros at his size.

Like I said earlier, that means he's limited to 4 receiver sets unless you're benching OBJ, Marshall, or Sheppard.

Would've loved Howard because he projects as a TE mismatch who can block. Every down player.

I don't think Engram is an every down player -- especially with the blocking issues along the OL.
So who sits, Engram, OBJ, Shep, or Marshall?
PatersonPlank : 11:11 pm : link
If Engram can block then I'm ok, but if he can't he's just another WR because Ellison needs to be in there.

We need to draft lineman (OT/OG/DT) now.
Damn

Including the first 3 quarters of the WC game(the 4th quarter never happened) that was probably the best 6 weeks or so of Giants offense I may have ever seen.

He's not an "end of the line" TE
BillT : 11:14 pm : link
He's a playmaker. They're not going to ask him to block DEs. The OLs were not worthy of a pick this high. They all had warts. He has none.
Surprised

someone took Conley in the first round.
