He's a playmaker. They're not going to ask him to block DEs. The OLs were not worthy of a pick this high. They all had warts. He has none.
So who does he play ahead of? Does Shep go to the bench, or Marshall? Do we go with no RB? If he can't block he will just be a situational player, and a situational player is a waste in Rd 1.
I would guess he will play at 245 or so with Ellison around he doesn't have to be a great blocker. Just give the effort on the occasions he is in tight. They will move him around they can use all sorts of personnel packages now and be a LOT more unpredictable (which will also help the offensive line if the defense is guessing and not teeing off.

That's fine and I wish him the best now that he's with the Giants.
That being said, if I'm a defensive coordinator I'm sending pressure off the edge every time Engram trots onto the field. Flowers and Fluker on an island is a huge mismatch.

There's no reason to speak in absolutes. Let's just relax before we decide exactly what he is.
Or do we just want to do that thing where some people bitched because the Giants drafted a 5'10 punt returner 9th overall?
One of their problems was they had the same guys on the field lined up in the same spots every down. Try this on for size. Engram and Marshall split out wide and OJB in the slot. Someone is going to have a mismatch. The more you have to work with the more creative they can be
What he has is speed to burn. Having this speed in the middle of the field puts enormous pressure on the defense. Speed threatens and worries defenses, and the Giants have not had that up the middle since Shockey.
The offense now has skill position speed across the board.
Having a player like Engram who can release as quick as he does will make the 5 YPC 8 and make the 7 YPC 10
might be a lot worse than originally imagined. Def wouldn't mind a trade up for the right player but would be okay to stay put due to the depth of the draft.
Nice pick for the 11-5 freshman coach who cut his teeth in the TE position in GB. Engram gets to watch Ellison block inline, and Marshall on the perimeter, from mini-camp until Thanksgiving. ;-)

Not the medical. Too many off the field questions like Cook.
If Engram can block then I'm ok, but if he can't he's just another WR because Ellison needs to be in there.
We need to draft lineman (OT/OG/DT) now.
If you honestly have to ask "who sits" in today's NFL of sub packages and match ups depending on situation, then you you need to just realize that you have no idea what you're talking about and do some homework. I'm actually shocked that this post came from you. Good lord.
Taco's the missing piece. Time to start planning the Super Bowl party in Big D. Only question now is weather or not Taco will be better than Charles Haley. Dallas dynasty!
Is only 10 lbs heavier and he had blocking problems too. I suspect Engram will become serviceable as a blocker eventually. All these kids coming out of college need to be taught these days. What he has cant be taught.

Yeah, way over the top.
Yea that was a little over the top
Just emotions

I sure don't. However none of the other kids acted like that. Dropping an F-bomb is just not good.
He won't just be the 4th WR.
I have used my powers of deduction to conclude that he will likely play TE and move out wide in 4 receiver sets.
Ellison will likely get snaps at RB and TE situationally (like 2 TE sets, or when you need a blocker there.
Not sure Giants take an OL if at all this draft bad group according to many.

Ellison at Full Back. Engram at TE. Odell and Brandon on the outside and Sterling in the slot. Nightmares for Defensive Coordinators!!!
Njoku for Whittens replacement?

Taco. Browns go Njoku

Mayock sounded unconvinced : "not a quick twitch guy"
I agree. I'm not high on any of the Mich linemen.
