I don't believe Atl wanted him, but instead were hoping to create a run on TEs so they could draft their man. Clearly Atl needed defense much much more. You all saw the Super Bowl.
I thought the question asking him to compare Njoku with Engram was pretty fair. I wish he had answered as to why he favored Engram. If nothing else give us some coach speak instead of telling us we won't evaluate Njoku. Why not?

Because it's a bullshit "gotcha" question designed to cause controversy, not provide any useful information.
They can't tell us why they rated Engram slightly higher. Â
There were quotes about the attributes they liked in Engram. How could it help for the GM or coach to compare him to players on other teams. That is for other people to do.
half way through. It is as if he does not want to give us any information. We already drafted the fucking guy. Why not tell us more about how you came to the decision, more about the guy. Why is it always like pulling teeth with Reese? It is not as if we are asking him to tip his hand before the selection was made.
Interesting he has already played catch with Eli Â
Prior to the draft, writers and the fans talk about the number one pick a lot. Not unreasonable to ask these questions because they know they are questions many people are curious about.
the criticism has been justified and has led to some awkward, uncomfortable, even hostile exchanges, notably Ranaan, which makes the Engram exchanges all the more notable

Exactly. Do we really need to go over why athletes and pro execs don't want to give the media anything to chew on? The media turns shit into a circus. Don't feed the trolls.
what Reese says after the draft rather than what he says after but one card of the hand is before the entire hand played out.
Anything he says can and will be used against him, not only by the local media, but by the other organizations competing with the Jints for players in the draft.
He is right in limiting info to Engram only at this point in time.

Reese liked Engram more than Njoku. Does he really need to spell it out for you? He took him!
"We think Engram is tougher than Njoku"--that comment would go over like a fart in church and you know it.
I really didn't pay attention to any mock drafts, I'm not familiar with ol miss that I can relate the film of our new tight end to game situations.
But I'll say this, compared to the other highlights of the other TEs this kid looks like a real offense completing weapon for us. He has great hands, the lift when he jumps is like a top-flight wide receiver, he's fast, he's elusive – I love the way he fucking moves compared to the other tight ends who are basically straight ahead within their shoulders runners ...
Could be a VERY difficult offense to deal with he next couple of years.
He comes off worse in the transcript, but I felt the same way.
IMO, Reese has never particularly enjoyed talking to the media and the criticism he has received the last few years has made him less engaging.

or is that just the transcript?

Agreed, I feel both him and McAdoo are both very uncomfortable listens.
Q: Did you try and trade up for anybody?
A: I am not going to talk about – do you want to talk about our pick or not? We are not talking about who we tried to trade up for.

Prove it.
Engram McCaffrey
ht 6-3 - 5-11
wt 234 - 202
arm 33.5 - 30
40 4.42 - 4.48
press 19 - 10
vertical 36.0 - 37.5
3 cone 6.92 - 6.57
20 shuttle 4.23 - 4.22
Engram's bigger, stroner and a little faster. McCaffrey's a little quicker.
This was why I did not get the Taco pick by them. They are a team devoid of one starting CB let alone 2-3

Their DL sucks too. I was hoping Dallas took a corner.

He will get bigger as he matures and blocking is a lot about effort and heart. He will be fine.
I wanted Robinson or Lamp but this kid is going to light up defenses for years. He doesn't have to be Bavaro. Just willing to do he job
