One of the writers who didn't like the pick made the point of taking Sheppard off the field in place of Engram. I don't view that as a bad thing as while I have high hopes for Sheppard, I don't think he has proven that he should play in the high 90% of snaps. Of course there will always be injuries to but here is my thoughts on groupings with some rough guesses of percentages.
Base 1-1 Beckham,Marshall,Sheppard,Ellison,Perkins -40%
Pass 1-1 Beckham,Marshall,Sheppard,Engram,Vereen -25%
2-1 Beckham,Marshall,Ellison,Engram,Perkins -25%
Yes. I know this comes out to 90%. I want to completely get away from last year's debacle and throw a lot of variation at teams so 10% may come from game plan specific packages using some of our other players. I still think Adams has some value and I could see him and Ellison together, I would like to see a 4th receiver have a ton of speed and slip him in in place of Sheppard and even Marshall some downs.
Anybody have any other thoughts on percentages?
2) 25% seems like a low snap percentage for Shane Vereen - at least until he gets hurt. But I guess if the offense clicks, the third-down back plays less.
................Manning.......................
......................Perkins............
outside zone runs often both sides,
wheel routes,
pass to RB often,
(but all must develop very quickly, so)
toss right to perkins,
left outside zone perkins then
play action manning right off that...pass to EE.
more under center play
experiment with Shep in backfield especially in case perkins gets injured
you do need half decent movement from your OTs tho-

Vereen will get snaps in the 'base'. A healthy Vereen probably gets 10-12 touches/game and he's solid at picking up the blitz too.
In addition to the above, we'll probably see some 21 sets with SS/Beckham as the 2 WRs.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see a few 3 TE sets (or 22 sets if they get/keep a FB) thrown in per game.
Not really. Even with the above breakdowns, Engram is out there for 25% of the snaps as part of a 21 package. At most, they'd probably have a 40-60 run-pass split from that grouping and probably closer to 50-50.
Personally, even with BM/SS/OBJ, I think we might see this grouping become our 'base' package as it really takes advantage of the mismatches Engram creates. If the D matches it with their base (43 or 34), then you'll see Eli audibling a lot to a pass with a LB matched up on Engram. If the D goes to a nickel to try and get a better cover guy out there on Engram, then Eli will gladly switch it up and run.
