I know, how dare I start a Yankees thread in the middle of the NFL draft hoopla. But some good / expected news: Didi to make his first start of the season tonight. Gary Sanchez to start his AAA rehab assignment Monday. With a little luck the team could be back to full strength soon.
SB Nation: Yankees - (
New Window )
That was not near a strike - very high. Would like to see a replay of that pitch.

they ruled that Bird swung and, on replay, unfortunately that looked correct.
Chap, Dellin, Clippard. Warren finishes game if we're here for a long time.

Right. Thank God for Tanaka last night.
It's nice to have him back.
Same here. As much as Girardi likes to bunt, I can't believe he's not doing it to get the runner to third.
But no matter.
HOLLIDAYYYYY
exactly! Messed up his relief rotation too, whereas ours, not so much.
Absolutely.
This reminds me of that Red Sox game from a few years ago when they were down 9-0 and came back to win 14-9 or something like that.
Damn this team is fun...
How demoralizing is that to the Orioles.....9-1 / 11-4 and loose.
Excellent character shown tonight as a team
The vet/youngster mix seems to be pretty nice.
I'd consider playing Hicks over Gardy more often
Haven't seen distances for Castro or Holliday, but they were serious blasts too.
These guys are relentless. I love to see that attitude. This is a young team with some good vets mixed in.
That said, CC has to be better.
SP still a concern folks.
And he's technically still a rookie, right?

a LOT has gone wrong so far this year.
and we're still doing pretty well. Tied for the division lead and the best record in the AL. It's early - but it's a little later every day.
I'm with you on this. This is not just a rebuilding year, unless there are some super teams lurking out there we haven't seen yet. I think this version of the Yanks can compete. I went to one of the Cardinals gams at YS - the Cards looked terrible compared to us. I thought the Bosox looked weak compared to us. And I'm talking all phases of the game - not just hitting and pitching but defense and baserunning.
The O's are the bogeymen in the AL East this year but I think we really f*cked with their minds tonight. This was a terrible loss for them.
I guess the Indians and the Cubs are lurking, so we'll see about that. And we did look weak against the Pirates. But still ...
Starting with our friends who root for that team over in Queens. A year ago they were quite certain they had about a decade of World Series contention ahead while the Yankees toiled in last place
