Foster may need second surgery...

Mike in St. Louis : 4/28/2017 11:19 am
this may have been mentioned already somewhere but...

"According to USA Today's Tom Pelissero, teams believe 49ers first-round ILB Reuben Foster will require a second shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff"...

regardless, Giants could not take the risk of picking Foster at 23....too many question marks and not just about health...

Did the 49ers know this before they drafted him? Or is this

just bullshit? If they knew this and drafted him anyway they should fire whomever was behind the pick. I have had rotator cuff surgeries, they require 4 - 6 months to regain strength and you never get back 100% range of motion.
I doubt he makes it to the Giants pick

However, the Giants have a decent group of LB on paper for this season, with few signed past this year. It might not be a bad idea to draft Foster with the idea being that he would "redshirt" this season to have surgery and recover- and then plug him in next season.

However, I also believe that the other teams in the league have to be thinking the same way tonight. With all the picks Cleveland has stacked up, it might make sense for them to move up and grab him with that plan in mind.
I forget that SF drafted him late

FWIW, from Rotoworld...

"According to USA Today's Tom Pelissero, teams believe 49ers first-round ILB Reuben Foster will require a second shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.

He's already in the midst of recovering from the first one following Alabama's season, and coach Nick Saban, speaking after last night's first round, expressed frustration with Foster's decision to not consult Dr. James Andrews, instead going to a different doctor. Another NFL exec thinks Foster could be a serious problem off the field outside of Alabama, where he had people to "hold his hand." He won't get that in the NFL. While the Foster pick at 31 for the 49ers has widely been praised, there are an excess of red flags that could make it backfire."

Mayock noted that a "late breaking rumor" of medical concerns might be causing his slide, and when Miami went LB at 22, Mayock said that seals the deal and the concerns were real.

surgery...I had both shoulders repaired for full tears...I think that type of injury is from repetitive use like lifting weights, throwing baseballs, paddling, etc... as opposed to impact from tackling...no?
