You need to get a franchise QB to win a Super Bowl (usually). I think Trubisky is that. I think he is the only guy in this draft that I have a degree of certainty in saying that, also. Even though I like Mahomes and Watson, I think they are both riskier propositions.
They must have really loved him because it's not like they're desperate for a QB after signing Glennon. If it was a team like Houston or the Jets, that's a different story. That looks like desperation. This feels like a team falling in love with a player and doing whatever it took to get him.
But why sign Mike Glennon to a $45M deal, with $19 million guaranteed, when the ultimate plan was to give up half your draft to get what you think is a franchise QB?
Even if another team had traded in front of the Bears and took Trubisky, Mahones would still be there and IMHO will be the better of the two QBs. It wasn't worth what they gave up.
But Glennon's contract is pretty much a one-year deal. They're paying him a lot of money, but the contract is not a commitment like many think.
They did sign Kendall Wright and Markus Wheaton, who are decent when healthy. The secret weapon is Rueben Randle.
