Ellison is not going to be on the field every down and Shepard doesn't need to be on the field every down, either.
Again - the Giants did not draft Evan Engram to have him watch half of the game from the sideline. He's going to play and he's going to play often.
LOL okay. Take Shepard out of the slot and take a good blocking TE out of the game and telegraph your passing plays. Sounds good. If you think Engram is playing much more than 60% (unless its due to injury) of our plays I don't know what to tell you.
And in most drafts, more picks = better chance of hitting on players. I'm not convinced the Giants truly like Howard that much more than Engram - sure he's a better blocker, but we're drafting a TE in the 1st for his receiving ability. If Engram puts up the #'s, even if he's a sub-par blocker no one will care.
Basically, we won't know if the Giants were right or wrong for 3 years or more. But we can't know if they would have been able to trade, just because that's the average value. Could be no team wanted to drop down to 23.
11 personnel was a product of the actual personnel on the team last year. We had no player with Engram's skill set. To assume we drafted this kid to have him stand on the sidelines for half of games is quite frankly, fucking moronic.
So which one of the guys I mentioned is being taken off the field?
think the same role as bear pascoe, same role will nohnson was supposed to play..
engram will play the role will tye played and engram is not as bad of blocker as you think...
he is going to attack the middle of the field and with 4.4 speed will attract a lot of attention in the middle
'
From what I know of Engram I don't expect that to be the case at all. If you're trying to utilize his speed you don't line him up our of the backfield (at least not often).

engram can block, he is not larry donnel bad, he is servicable...
Will Tye was on the field for 65% of our downs.... he saw nearly 700 snaps. But yeah, there's no place for Engram to play.
Engram and Ellison are both likely going to be moved around a lot to create mismatches, and get a look at what the defense are doing. All the people whining about unimaginative play calling are going to see a huge difference this year. I think for McAdoo to truly run the offense the way he intended, they needed the right versatile pieces, so the same personnel gives you a ton of different looks.

Assumed that's what you meant when you compared his role to Will Johnson (our FB) and Bear Pascoe who routinely lined up in the backfield. What did you mean?

i saod ellson woild take that role..
engram will line up in the natural tight end spot ehile also splitting out ala jordan reed...
he is going to be a force in the west coast offense, did you see how much better the packers were with jared cook?

You can't do that when you have a shitty oline. They're going to have to utilize an inline TE more than you're anticipating unless Flowers somehow makes a huge leap this year.
that actually suggests the GM should be fired because of the Apple pick and that were are a poorly run organization takes some true balls of stupidity.

I said it was time to fire him b/c of the leaks and the fact that the giants were not a well run organization. They were also were a horrible run team for 4 years in a row. I didn't say to fire him b/c of the single apple pick. To suggest otherwise is simply your trying to be a dick.
why is everyone on here so negative towards other opinions? they're just thoughts. we're all fans of the same squad. we all want the giants to be successfull. too much hate going on.
What a stupid post. As if the Giants had any clue Webb would be on the board #87...or would give up the opportunity to draft him if they did know. You suck.

Dress it up any way you like and it was a moronic comment last year. By a poster with a history of moronic comments. Who apparently stands by moronic comments instead of realizing he's fucking wrong.
That by itself is worse than any insult most can think of.
Or you can look at his two Super Bowl rings. Those by themselves should satisfy most fans, except for the whiny little douchebags among us who have nothing better to do than piss and moan, and who rarely have anything constructive to say.
I think that what has gone on kinda negates the 2 Superbowls
Or at the very least would make me take a closer look at those victories, and just who was responsible.
But we know that's a waste of time with some people.
An objective review of JR's draft history would show an abysmal 2011 and 2012, but 2007-2010 netted a whole bunch of starters and valuable role-players who were integral parts of two championship teams. 2013 to the present seems to have washed the bad taste of 2011 and 2012 out of the mouths of all concerned, except for those who are not interested in an objective review, and do little more than spout off with incessant anti-Reese posts.
There's no doubt that Reese's performance suffered

Yea and he's being replaced by two players Ellison and Engram. So 60%ish still makes perfect sense.
