The way I see it...

2 starters in rounds 1 and 2 and our QB of the future to groom in the 3rd. Hell of a job so far. Remember, this Reese and Ross 2.0 version are valuing work ethic, background, and football character and love for the game more than ever before. These 3 guys fit that mold. We came out of last year's draft with 5 impact players/starters. We could be on our way to at the very least 3 in this draft, with a potential QB waiting in the wings so we don't have to sit on our asses and hope to get lucky with an unknown down the road.

Regarding the OL, do we need to improve it? Yes. But a lot of folks are hammering for OL without realizing there's other positions on a football field. Our tight ends couldn't catch or run. Well, I'd say that's a big problem. Engram looks and feels like our own Jordan Reed without the 70 concussions. I'll take that and run with it.

Our DTs kinda suck other than Harrison. Huge problem. If Harrison were to go down, it's the equivalent of Beckham being out for a game or two with our WR corp 2 years ago. Simply put, everyone else wasn't NFL starting caliber. Remember how awful that was? Well, imagine pretty much any team going up against Jay Bromley and Robert Thomas for a few games. Fun isn't it?

Let's say we took Asiata or someone else there instead of Webb. He's gonna beat out Jerry? He's gonna beat out Fluker? Sy and many scouts were down on the OL this year. Hell, 2 of Sy's better tackles are still available! A few of the better guards are still available and it's round 4!! Perfect situation for Webb. Get in a top tier organization and be a gym and playbook rat for a few seasons, learn from the best. Learn what it's like to be a pro before forcing it out there like all these other guys that weren't ready and went to shitty orgs. That's my main gripe with people who don't like the Webb pick. Would you rather take a really good prospect now, while we are good, or would you rather have to suck for a few years to try and get one? And then maybe it still doesn't work out? We got what many are calling a 1st round QB type talent in the 3rd round of a team that is pretty stacked with talent right now. Imagine that?

Hoping Jerry sticks to his board for the remainder, because as of now this is a really good FOOTBALL PLAYER draft for us, while at the same time checking off value/need boxes along the way.

But a 3rd is a round that another starter/depth can be found.

Webb is neither.....I suspect he is our 3rd QB.....which means we must also save an extra roster spot.

I am in a win now mode.....a small 2 year window. This pick. Does not help it.

No OT was starting outside possibly C.Robinson at RT and Lamp at RG....and that is if tehy can beat out Fluker/Jerry which is not a given.

My insomnia kicked in yesterday and I ended up sleeping through the draft today. When I saw the picks, I was pumped by Tomlinson. I knew we got our #2 starting DT, and when I saw Webb, I started laughing in anticipation. And the backlash didn't disappoint.

People are way overreacting to the pick. He's a huge value not to have to trade up for in the third. We can probably land a Julie'n Davenport type in the fourth still if they feel some urgent need to add a developmental tackle prospect, but we aren't going to find a better QB prospect for that value anywhere else in the draft. He and Mahomes were the two guys who looked like they would fit for us, as guys with high ceilings who can come and sit behind Eli for a few years and learn the pro game. Mahomes obviously was a hotter commodity, but Webb isn't some schmuck either.

I'm liking what we've done so far, added a starter on both sides of the ball and finally added a true backup QB who has the potential to take over for Eli. Not a stop gap old vet or long shot project. Both of those kinds of QBs would be fine, but a guy like Webb has tremendous value in the long run.

And we still have all our picks and four more guys to add to the roster. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

I don't get the point of view that says "win now" means you can't take a shot on a single pick to develop into the next franchise quarterback. Or that "win now" means that once Eli is gone, we're destined to be a perennial loser.

We can put some stop gaps in place to supplement a short term run while still putting other resources towards long term, sustained growth as an organization. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

I like what we did in the first 3 rounds

I wasn't a fan of the Tomlinson pick, but the more I read about him, the better I felt. Accepted to Princeton, hard worker. Same with Engram and Webb. All effort guys. The first 2 guys can help us out and the 3rd is great insurance. All I know is I don't want to go through a 10 year period of Dave Brown, Kent Graham, Jesse Palmer, whoever. And if that means we have to select another QB next year, so be it.
Can't complain about Rounds 1 and 2

But I really don't like spending our 3rd on a guy who may never see the field. Needs are too great at LB and OL for that.
Sy compares him to Osweiler

I know it doesn't mean much but for a 3 rounder that's not the name I want to hear. Wow and in win now mode. Personally hate the pick. He has a lonnnnnnng way to go to even be considered a back end starter it appears. Who knows he could work out but other names there I much rather have that can help this team win now. Questionable pick considering the position and round.

I like Engram pick. Looks like a weapon that can create all sorts of match-up issues...and he helps OBJ get free. We already have the blocking TE in Ellison. Adams showed some upside and can block. This guy likely replaces Tye, although I think they keep 4 TE's, no FB.

Tomlinson was a need pick, he could start right away. They obviously thought they could keep Hankins, unfortunately it didn't work out. I wouldn't be surprised if they drafted another one.

Davis Webb. Certainly checks all the boxes. Seems like an intense guy who wants to compete from day #1. Eli is obviously the guy for now. We'll see what happens.

I'd like to see more Oline/Dline depth in the next few rounds.

I don't know, a lot is being made about a late 3rd pick being a huge investment. What if he ends up being a player like Garrapalo, and teams are willing to pay big money for him in the future?
Agree.....

If we are not in win now mode, I don't know what we are in.....and the chance we waste another roster spot, smacks of Nassib all over again.....

If Eli goes down, think this guy comes in, this year or next? I would have grabbed one of the qb's next year......I would have used the Webb pick on a DB/LB/RB.....even move up, if necessary.....

A guy that is not going to play for several years, if ever, and taking up two roster spots.....I think it was a mistake.....and I'm sure, Eli will help him.......just like Brady has helped Garappolo.......NOT!
