Kinda going off the 17 he wore at Ole Miss. 88 works.
He is bigger and faster than Dez Bryant
est1986 : 4/30/2017 5:46 pm : link
Dez is better with the ball in his hands but the ball skills are almost equal, wow..

..but this our fucking TE we are talking about hahahaha love it

With Odell wide left, sterling in the slot left, engram with his hand in the dirt next to the RT, and Brandon Marshall wide right, Shane Vereen next to Manning in the gun.. this offense is going to scare the crap out of defenses. If this OL plays well Eli could be looking at an MVP type season numbers wise.

Dez is a fucking return man, Engram is going to be great but Dez is IMO clearly better after the catch, Engram's speed is going to be huge tho..
you want to know something
gidiefor : Mod : 4/30/2017 5:56 pm : link
there is no comparison to Dez Bryant with the ball in his hands and Evan Engram with the ball in his hands

Evan Ingram wraps the ball up like no WR I've ever seen except Antwon Boldin -- Ingram holds the ball high and tight and even with two hands when he senses anyone around him

this is an unbelievable trait --
I don't like it!
Milton : 4/30/2017 5:56 pm : link
88 is a WR #. He should see if he can switch with Shepard. Or see if Dwayne Harris will give him his college # 17.
p.s.--although I do appreciate the EE and 88 connection (if he's going to have an even number, let it be 88).

I just dont get it. He was 158th in the NFL in total yards after the catch and he managed a measly 2.8 yards after the catch which is horrible.

Robbie i see you post often, you are smarter than that.. Dez is what in his 8th year? Dez coming out was WAY better after the catch and WAY better with the ball in hands, breaking tackles making guys miss. Do i need to bring up a PR TD he had against us? For MOST of his career up until last year Dez has been awesome with the ball in hand. I only mentioned Dez because of the number 88 and they are comparble as receivers. Engram a little faster and a little bigger, dez a little more of a playmaker, better after the catch. But this is our TE not our number one WR. Really happy we have him.
Dez is a beast but you never said WAS.
robbieballs2003 : 4/30/2017 6:27 pm : link
You said Dez IS better with the ball in his hands. I disagree.

Truth is Dez has been pedestrian the last two years. He did suffer a foot injury two years ago and a knee a year ago and missed alot of games. But if healthy i still think he is better with the ball in his hands than Engram. Hopefully not. Coming out and up until the the last year or two he was better without a doubt, agree?

88 is a WR #.

And, truth be told, that's what he is. You can call him a TE all you like but he's far more of a WR in his speed, receiving abilities and blocking abilities. 88 is perfect.

This is a good question, because at what point do you have to label a player as a TE, WR, or RB? A TE can wear a # in the 40's, but a WR can't. If the Giants were to give him the #17 and call him a WR, but then line him up wherever they choose, at what point does the league step in and say he is lining up as an inline TE too often to have a WR number?

this is pretty neat

https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/dez-bryant

https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/evan-engram?position=WR

https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/dez-bryant?position=TE

https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/evan-engram

First one shows Dez's measurable's as a 'WR'
Second is a comparison of EE's measurable's as a 'WR'
The next two show their measurable's as 'TEs'
Engram is like an extra wide receiver
est1986 : 4/30/2017 6:56 pm : link
If he can provide anything at all as a blocker he is going to be very versatile.
I see a lot of third downs converted this year

I saw in an interview somewhere, he said his hero was Tony Gonzalez. When Tony G got to Atlanta, that's when EE really started to learn the TE Position. Go Ahead young man, I hope you follow in Tony's footsteps.

One of my favorite football plays is the deep seam pass to the TE -- Simms to Bavaro, baby. I hope to see a lot of that deep seam this season.

Just as bad as some BBI'ers saying he is the second coming of Travis Beckham.
If he takes 33, he can stand in front Oakland mirror and see

Actually I think he has to take a receive number, but who cares really?

many fans said the same thing last year

with this guy and this guy and that guy coming back from injury we are going to create nightmares for opposing defenses... How did it pan out?

and Cruz was such a black hole that there was no reason not to double and triple Beckham. You are blind if you can't see how much better our weapons are compared to last year and that's before discussing TE.
