Cruz Visiting Jags Today

Josh in the City : 5/11/2017 10:26 am
Reunion with TC coming?

@AdamSchefter
Former Giants WR Victor Cruz is visiting the Jaguars and his former HC Tom Coughlin, as @TomPelissero reported.
Fitting
Trainmaster : 5/11/2017 10:29 am : link
as Cruz used to be a star receiver, but unfortunately after his injury, he is JAG now.

Not familiar with their WRs.
Beezer : 5/11/2017 10:33 am : link

Can he help them, even a little bit?

I'd love to have him back in blue, but it was clear he couldn't help, and now with the upgrades? Not even close.
They have some
kash94 : 5/11/2017 10:34 am : link
talent at WR so maybe more of a depth signing. Robinson, Hurns, and Lee although the first two had down years compared to 2015.
This is why I'm glad TC is gone...

that is all.
Cruz probably just

I hope he gets a contract somewhere

Slot or backup slot.
Best of luck to Victor

If he has anything left in the tank it would be nice if he did some good things for his old coach.

Agreed.
Vic just wants to be
NYGBlue42 : 5/11/2017 11:14 am : link
closer to Miami.
The Jags are fairly loaded at slot WR.
Devon : 5/11/2017 11:19 am : link
This is probably just TC trying to do an ex player of his a favor, but anything more than a visit -- which isn't until the 23rd now, per Stapleton -- would simply a bad football for the Jags.
Let's not take digs on Cruz

I won't say I'm glad TC is gone, but he needed to move on.

However, Talking to VC is no reason to crap on TC. I think VC is still a viable slot receiver and one more year removed from surgery he might get some better movement.
Nothing wrong with having a look see.....
TC is all class

He knows the huge role Cruz played in 2011. While I'd be surprised if he makes the team, this is EXACTLY the gesture that Cruz deserves from Coughlin.

rewatched highlights from last season ...

Cruz has some key long catches in many games
especially in first half of the season ...
also had some nice blocks down field that extended plays ...

I still think he has some left in the tank

He made catches on perfectly thrown balls. Got zero separation on those catches and almost no yac. He isn't an NFL wr anymore and he doesn't play specials
Gotta hope he can regain that eye of the tiger

While I agree that he didn't get separation, his best position was the slot. It isn't his fault that we drafted Shep. I think he can still find the hole in a defense and move the chains. He no longer has any breakaway speed, but he still knows how to play.

It's not kicking him to point out on a message board that he doesn't have much to likely anything left.

Recognizing what he is now doesn't undo what he used to be or whatever he previously contributed.

it'll be as depth. It won't be an indictment on TC if Cruz ends up a Jag, unless TC signs Cruz to be a starter/play a major role and then Cruz fails. I dunno if TC has that kind of power - to sign and assign playing roles.

At this point, though, TC mostly knows today's Cruz from tape (and personality). Cruz hasn't played for TC in quite a while. Cruz was mostly IR/injury squad during TC's last couple of years with the Giants.

People need to understand that TC is in charge of football operations. He has final say and reports to the owner Shad Khan. He has quite a bit of influence, but he won't be coaching players. He won't be signing players. That is reserved for the HC and GM respectively.

For a training camp. He felt like he still had more left so he tried out. Didn't make the cut.

But before I part again, I just genuinely want to understand the mindset of you three folks to see this thread and the first thought that comes to your mind is, 'Man, this is exactly why I'm glad TC is gone'.

Me personally, I saw it and thought, 'Good for Cruz, hope he manages to land a spot and be serviceable. And good by TC, giving his former undrafted phenom a shot to catch on somewhere'

I would think that's how most giants fans would react, rather than take a shot at the coach.

But that's just me I guess, a no value poster attacker.

What's more pathetic? Taking a shot the coach who helped lead us to two super bowls, on a thread about him giving his former player a chance at his roster? Or the guy calling out the fuckwits taking a shot at said coach?

Damn right I did. Said poster has a hard on for TC that causes him to rip anyone and everyone that he perceives to have slighted TC fairly or unfairly. He also likes to trash mcadoo because he's still not over the TC departure.

I was just being fair and telling him he's no better than those that take any opportunity to knock TC.

As for the rest of your post, I aspire to one day reach your level of maturity
wish cruz well
msh : 5/13/2017 11:48 am : link
thou obviously not if he ever plays against the giants again it was a cruel run of injury first the way he injured his knee and the 2 blood clot ops he got pushing too hard to rehab from that.the old cruz pre that injury you have to think is gone for good he no longer appears to have the speed, burst or cutting to his movement he did still a hard worker with good hands thou

smart guy too,the play that sticks was him coming back and breaking up an interception to josh norman inside skins half that could easily have gone the other way for a pick 6. i wasnt sure if eli threw a bad ball or cruz ran the wrong route but it could have turned the game if he hadnt fought for it

the whole trip to miami was probably the last straw for the team, they expected him to be the veteran player and show the younger ones the better way not be part of that, coupled with his salary cap number and decline it was always likely to end his time on the team as it did

his 99yd touchdown vs the jets was the key that sparked them to that superbowl in 2011 for that we owe him out thanks and if he can play on elsewhere all the better for him our ex-wr always struggle elsewhere or dont play again but cruz does have a better chance than some did

didnt realize at the time this would spark another SB run ... at the time it just felt oh so wonderful to witness the life drain from all those jets fans ... it was a.giants "road game" after all.

great day. don't recall xmas eve dinner, but I'm sure it was delicious too.

It's not farfetched to imagine a Coughlin led Giants team hanging onto Cruz this year. That's a frustrating prospect given how end of their career type players faired during his tenure.

It's not a shot at him to support less loyalty to broken down players.
