Davis Webb was impressive in his presser yesterday

Far more mature than most rookies. No jitters.

I like how

he carries himself for sure. A few years under Eli will help him
Seems like the NFL is not too big for him,
Simms11 : 5/13/2017 8:34 am : link
however, we'll see how he progresses. Sitting behind Eli for a few years won't hurt. He seems like he could mentally handle things, which for a QB is a chunk of the battle.

Being mature, intelligent and articulate can translate to on-field presence and success.
Shows a lot of self-confidence
mavric : 5/13/2017 9:29 am : link
which is important. Really confident in himself, and not cocky about it. The fact that he's a football junkie and gym rat is a huge plus as well as his height and strong arm. He's not going to pull a Johnny Manziel and end up playing the bar scene and nightclubs. And he's not a timid type like so many end up being once they reach the NFL. Love his work ethic and devotion to the game.
I really like
BlueManCrew : 5/13/2017 9:31 am : link
How he carries himself. Confident and engaged but humble. I hope this guy can become something but he scored a 25 on the wonderlic which is an important test for qbs.
I was impressed that he said 'detail-oriented', not '-orientated'.
Big Blue Blogger : 5/13/2017 9:43 am : link
Can't stand made-up words, especially from a QB.

Seriously, though... everything about Webb suggests that he'll be a good coach someday. Here's hoping he can play a little in the meantime.
It's certainly a good sign,

I wouldn't have (I would have added to the Secondary), but I can certainly understand why the Giants did.

As "QB-rich" as next year's draft is supposed to be, there's no guarantee that any of the top-tier prospects will be available to us (unless this season is a complete disaster), so the Giants got their "bird in the hand" this year, instead of hoping to find one in the bush next year.

And, who knows...maybe this kid will turn out to be the goods.

He needs to

use more sports clichés. He did say "work my but off" a few times but at the end of the day is he taking it one game at a time while giving 110%?
What is not to love about this guy?
annexOPR : 5/13/2017 11:51 am : link
Rocket arm, mobility, and an excellent work ethic to take full advantage of the time spent behind Eli

all the physical attributes you want, time to develop, and an excellent work ethic? he really did wind up in an ideal situation ... and the giants paid a bargain price for a QB who may end up the best of this bunch.

hindsight is 20/20, but Webb in the 3rd followed by Bisnowaty/Wheeler/Dunker later makes me feel even better about this draft/offseason. those OL are on par with who the masses wanted the giants to reach for during the draft.
FWIW

He seems a bit cocky.. Not just in yesterdays interview but in most interviews I've seen him do.. and I'm not saying its a good or a bad thing..

Gotta follow it up with the inevitable critique of what every sentence means which of course will dictate performance.

I would call him more confident than cocky.

so is Aaron Rodgers ...
I've told you guys since about February.

and I want the credit when it happens.

Davis Webb will be a star QB in the NFL.

I'm not saying he will be Brady or Rodgers but the kid has "it".

If you asked me to describe what "it" is, I would say it is a combination of innate athletic ability, work ethic and attitude. Whether you want to call that attitude Confident, Cocky or Comfortable is up to you.

There have been hundreds of guys through the years that have one of those 3 traits that gets them onto an NFL roster for a brief period of time (Ryan Nassib).

There are others who have two traits and have long careers, either as short/medium term starters or backups (Jay Cutler and Josh McCown)

and then there are the guys who have all 3 (Rivers, Big Ben, Luck, Eli) who have long, productive and sometimes championship and hall of fame worthy careers.

Then there are the immortals, Brady, Montana, Unitas, Elway, Bradshaw, Peyton, etc.

Impressive, sure.
81_Great_Dane : 5/13/2017 2:13 pm : link
But is he Dorsey Levens impressive?
The more I read
annexOPR : 5/13/2017 2:40 pm : link
The more I have no idea why he fell to the 3rd round while other teams paid those ridiculous 1st round prices

I guess the "hes gonna need time" forced teams to look elsewhere for mediocre/quicker fixes

What I really like is that he took off after the draft
David in LA : 5/13/2017 2:45 pm : link
to meet with Jim Zorn to pick his brain about the WCO. If he doesn't pan out, it certainly won't be due to not wanting it enough. Looks like he has the physical tools. I liked Nassib as a prospect, but Webb strikes me as having much more confidence and charisma right away.
Eli wins SB this year
annexOPR : 5/13/2017 2:56 pm : link
retires, Webb becomes our Luck/Rodgers seamless QB transition ...

yup, time for another beer.

Wholeheartedly agree! Good season = late pick = fewer choices.
Who knows when Eli's luck might run out? God forbid!
I like big, strong and, especially, smart.

I assume Marino comes under the "etc." category.

Chances, based on talent, arm, intelligence, work ethic and story. Needs to get his feet straightened out, but he's got time.
Good start but he looks scrawny to me
Torrag : 5/14/2017 2:35 am : link
He'll need to fill out that 6'5" frame if he wants to survive the pounding an NFL QB takes. But WTH he has the time to prepare and mature both physically and mentally for a couple of seasons.
...
christian : 5/14/2017 7:36 am : link
You've got to be pretty sensitive if that came off cocky.

Most of the interview was him saying he doesn't know anything yet, has a ton to learn, and wants to focus on being a good team mate,

As I said in another thread, he's exactly one pound lighter than Peyton Manning - 6-5, 229, as opposed to 6-5, 230.
He'll have plenty of time to eat some meatloaf

Yeah, and Eli is a stud? While Peyton is pretty solid, Eli is pretty thin.
How the hell

was this guy not a 1st round pick?

May have scored our "Dak Prescott" here, who causes the scouts to go back and wonder how they missed.

This has been my point. There are 4, or maybe 5, QB's in the draft who seem close. Its impossible to know who will make it and who will bust until they get in the NFL, but I think 2 of them will be starters, 1-2 backups, and 1-2 will be out of the NFL. Who knows which one's now. So while teams traded away next years draft to move up and grab one, we got the same talent late in Rd 3. It was a steal.
He needs to see game action...
EricJ : 5/14/2017 11:01 am : link
which means we need to have some big leads in the 4th QTR so he can get some garbage time snaps
