Engram, Gallman and Webb all look skinny to me too. If he's such a gym rat, you'd expect Webb to not be a beanpole, but I guess he just doesn't have the natural body for it.

Webb is listed as 6-5, 229. By comparison, Peyton Manning was 6-5, 230.
... for an organization that has always prided itself in drafting high character guys, don't you think its kind of odd that the Giants didn't speak with Webb and Engram before the draft if they knew they were considering drafting them? I get that they can't talk with everyone and I'm sure they're good guys... but the first round pick and the quarterback, wouldn't you want to at least speak with those guys?
I've always liked Reese and the way the Giants draft guys but, I don't know, I just found that curious.

With the resources an NFL organization has, I would think they can learn more than enough about any player they want without talking to them. They may want to hide interest in certain players, too. I would think that the really good/smart and really bad/stupid kids are easy. It's the ones in the middle they they may want to talk to before they make a grade.

I suspect that's in part driven by the extra effort they made to hide who their targets were. Seems like they really liked Engram and Webb (Tomlinson too) all along and didn't want to telegraph it
You would certainly think taking a QB to replace Manning would at garner an interview to see how smart the guy is unless they had extremely trustworthy sources.

They have drafted players before who've said they had no idea the Giants were even strongly considering them.
Sometimes they only interview the players they actually have questions or concerns about.
That is a far better first impression than in prior years Â
when our first round draft pick visibly limped into camp, or was blind in one eye.
1995—Tyrone Wheatley, RB, Michigan
1996—Cedric Jones, DE, Oklahoma
So far, so good.
One guy likes meatloaf. Another has a firm handshake. Another has a pony tail (and he couldn't even get that part right). Sheesh. Wake me when there's some real information.

Yeah but Manning was a fivehead.

My concern is last year's #3 FS D. Thompson and whether he heals by the start of camp. We could use back-to-back solid drafts.
So come back in August. It's the offseason.
