#Giants signed RB Khalid Abdullah, CB SaQwan Edwards and S Trey Robinson.
CB Nigel Tribune, WR Robert Wheelwright + RB Daryl Virgies waived
I think Wheelwright probably regrets signing with the Giants now :P

@Rob_wheels

Sorry, but not sorry! I'm headed to the New York Giants....

He committed to the Panthers originally
I know some of you liked Virgies
Anakim : 5/13/2017 4:39 pm : link
Or at least liked how athletic he is
Khalid Abdullah
JPinstripes : 5/13/2017 4:48 pm : link
is exactly the type of RB that you want to develop. Ultra productive small school back with enough size and very good hands.

Here are highlights of Khalid below. I am excited for this kid.
Abdullah Highlights - ( New Window )
I thought Wheelwright had a shot at the PS.

I see a little Tiki in this kid.
Wheelright

Slow and nothing special.
Edwards had a cup of coffee with Oakland, ended up on IR.
Klaatu : 5/13/2017 5:08 pm : link
Injury undisclosed. I don't think he ever got in a game. I guess he's healthy now.

Here's an interview with Trey Robinson at Draft Diamonds

Hence the phrase, "shot at the PS."
PS

Robinson has the look of a potential big nickel down the road. Great size, some ball skills and brings the lumber.

He had a decent career at Wisconsin and looked good at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. He wouldn't be the first guy who couldn't stick with the first team that gave him a shot, but found a home somewhere else later on.

Very sharp cuts/double moves. Has the ability to bust right through arm tackles and can move the pile. Looks very good in the highlights. Fast runner. If he can block...bonus!
As a JMU alum...

I can verify that Abdullah is a very good back. Of course, it will be a big jump up in competition, and we will see if he is NFL caliber, but I am glad he is getting a chance with us.
Great to get behind another VA rb

Keeps it fun and the Giants in the local media when it happens

Or Megget
Daryl Virgies
gogiants : 5/13/2017 8:10 pm : link
was a long shot coming from a Division III school with low playing time. But the fact that he made it that far is a real tribute to someone turning their life around. Check out his story here The Trentonian. He had monster athletic numbers of
Bench press 455 lbs
Squat 705 lbs
Short shuttle: 4.20 (Pro Day)
40 yard dash: 4.33 (tryout with Indianapolis Colts)
Broad Jump: 11.11
Vertical Jump: 41"
I hope he hooks up with some team.

I was going to saw Bradshaw.

Kid looks good. Maybe he can take over for Vereen as a 3rd down back.
Looking for some help in the Secondary

even if it is a needle in a haystack...
Kind of a surprise that the Giants signed Virgies to a futures
Ivan15 : 5/14/2017 8:59 am : link
contract in January and then released him after the first day of rookie camp.

Did they just want to lock him up for 4 months just so they could get one little look at the guy?
Wheelwroght - wow, how bad you have to look
ZogZerg : 5/14/2017 9:32 am : link
To be cut at 90.
But the Giants did sign a bunch of big receivers. So maybe he was just the worst looking of the bunch.

Giants probably did want to keep him for training camp when they signed him to the futures contract, but if Abdullah looked great and Virgies had an off day, I could see why they went the direction that they did
Abdullah does look pretty good on video.
TC : 5/14/2017 12:38 pm : link
But, "enough size"?

I've 5'10" 194. That makes him the smallest RB on the squad among some not very big RB's.
