I just looked at Abdullah's highlight tapes & he looks better than any one already on the roster. He is smooth, has great burst, excellent vision, several gears, & amazing moves. On one one sequence I saw him change directions 3 times before he even got to the line of scrimmage.
I know that he was not doing this against the best college defenses but he cannot help that & the Giant scouts judged him good enough to sign. I am no scout but I loved what I saw. He looks like a Perkins with better burst. My only questions are: (1) is he strong enough to break initial arm tackles? & (2) can he block well enough to protect Eli?
On a team now crowded with RBs, will he get a chance to show what he can do in camp & Preseason games (if he gets that far)?
I think it is time to jettison some of the other RBs like Darkwa & Draughn, whose capabilities we know, & try some new blood who may have greater potential.
What do you think of Abdullah?
It's very tough for these guys. If they're not good in the passing game as both receivers and blockers, they don't last long. And most of them weren't asked to do that in college.
Gallman was smart to go back for another year to work on all that stuff.
He looks good in his highlights, but I don't see WOW. And players that look good in school, but don't have great measurables often look less than average when they start playing against NFL talent.
Perkins and Gallman are locks. And I don't see a skill set in him that could supplant either. We'll have to see what the other RB's on the roster can do compared to him.
Team depth is one of the things that are getting me excited about the coming season.
I wouldn't discount Draughn as he did well for a lousy SF team that had nothing.
If we sign Blount....and carry 3 QBs....we both won't be carrying anyone unless they Excell on specials

PS for Abdullah would be my guess.
Boy ain't that the truth. I watch these highlight clips that are put together by the player or his agent and virtually ever player looks like the second coming of Walter Payton or Jerry Rice or Lawrence Taylor.
There's a reason that 99.9999% of what they did on the field during their college career is cut out of the film and laying on the floor. Every player has a few great moments and that is all that the clip will ever show.
Never trust highlight clips of players on YouTube except for entertainment value. The scouts of the organization study that 99.999% of the film that's left out. And for good reason

I think he's on the Texans now
