Looking to upgrade my S6 to one of these two phones. Heard some great things about the Google Pixel - but the S8+ looks pretty sweet. Any advice, phone fans? tia.
Forget all the extras & features (some of which are extremely useful/convenient ie: smart lock which lets you skip the password entry when you're at 'trusted places' like home or work), the phone itself is just awesome. Fast, crisp, long battery life (for now), and overall a very enjoyable phone to use. Can't recommend it enough.
Oh and FWIW I had an s6 and was worried about the size upgrade to the plus but you can't notice a difference in your pocket.
constant updates, super responsive, no stupid touchwiz skin by samsung.
Only drawback is the lack of any waterproofing. If you can wait, you might as well wait a few months for the pixel 2. It will be out in the fall.
It does have SOME waterproofing: it's IP53 certified, which makes it splash proof.
In theory that means it can't handle a dunking. But I have seen tests of it staying underwater for an hour and it comes out still working. With the caveat that there were water issues: speakers were affected and water breached the lens cover. But it still functioned fine apart from that, and some drying out should handle the minor issues.
My "go to guy" at work......who I always rely on....
If you want the camera go with the LGV6 recent studies has shown that it blows away the competition. If you want the Latest Android OS then the Pixel or the Pixel 2 is right for you?
If you can tolerate the touchwiz UI which samsung has tweaked then go with the S8. Each phone has its pluses and some minuses.
But wireless charging and sdcard support are important to me. I currently have a S7, so I will probably be waiting another year or so before I upgrade.

Much more powerful....far better battery.
He said right now.....its the S8.

Me too. I really wanted to like the Pixel, but those are deal breakers for me.
