NFT: Oral History of Knicks-Heat 1997 series

A lot of this happened before my time but an interesting read. Hard to believe the Knicks were once a contender.
Knicks v. Heat rivalry - ( New Window )
Those are painful memories.

That team would've given Jordan a run for his money. They were loaded and peaking at exactly the right time.
Good read

Me personally, I have a harder time believing they've been mismanaged for 17 years than that they were once a contender.
loved that team

talk about heart, fight, never giving up and toughness . . .I went to a few of those Heat-Knicks playoff games and every possession was a war, the fans never sat down for the entire game.

How the team went from that to where is today is a crime. And I blame it on Dolan. He fired Checketts (technically drove him away), definitely drove JVG away and from there on out, a swinging door of GM's, coaches and players.

And not sure how it gets better as long as Dolan is doing the hiring of management.
we also had at least an entertaining team

JVG quit on the team. He realized that they were going to be a sub .500 team and just quit midseason to preserve his value for a contract with another team.

I'm no fan of Dolan but JVG is a putz. And not a very good coach. Watch Reilly keep his players on the bench while Van Gundy is in a daze
Great read.

Fucking PJ Brown.

I don't know if they were beating the Bulls in the EFC, but they would have won extended that series past 5 unlike Miami.
I have absolutely no desire to relive that bullshit

Fuck Zo.

Fuck Hardaway.

Fuck Dan Majerle.

Fuck OK Brown
Fuck this phone, too

Fuck PJ Brown.

And most of all, fuck that scumbag Pat the Rat.
I know the rule about leaving the bench
Matt M. : 5/17/2017 10:25 pm : link
but,boy is it BS. Ewing actually went in the opposite direction of the scrum.

Worse was Ward. If he didn't commit a dirty play, the Knicks win the series.

It is crazy to see what the Knicks have become. Back then they had a true culture of toughness, great defense and pride. They have the exact opposite of that since JVG left.

I'm with you Greg. Fuck Pat the Rat. Fuck that little homophob Hardaway(and his son while we're at it). I don't need to relive one second of that debacle. I prefer to re-live like the other 5 series where we beat their ass.
Oh and to hell with that little midget Van Gundy and his ass quitting
Stu11 : 5/18/2017 1:22 pm : link
on the Knicks too. Thats about the only thing I won't blame on Dolan.
