Gardner sac fly scores Didi -
Del Shofner : 5/17/2017 9:50 pm : link
10-2.
Good baserunning by Didi
shockeyisthebest8056 : 5/17/2017 9:50 pm : link
...
That slide looked
bigbluehoya : 5/17/2017 9:51 pm : link
Like it hurt.

In a belly-flop kinda way
Love that there's some speed
B in ALB : 5/17/2017 9:51 pm : link
On this team. And that's minus Ellsbury tonight.
This offense is really something
Kyle in NY : 5/17/2017 9:52 pm : link
And that's with almost no production from 1B and Sanchez only just getting back to his normal self
Sanchez hit scores Carter -
Del Shofner : 5/17/2017 9:52 pm : link
KC challenging.
And there's Sanchez!
Kyle in NY : 5/17/2017 9:52 pm : link
.
Another 10 spot for the Yanks
dpinzow : 5/17/2017 9:53 pm : link
Now 8 times this season the Yanks have reached double digits
Out
Joey from GlenCove : 5/17/2017 9:53 pm : link
Outeasy call
out at the plate on replay -
Del Shofner : 5/17/2017 9:53 pm : link
10-2 it remains.
Bah, looks like he was out
Greg from LI : 5/17/2017 9:53 pm : link
.
Sanchez now, and Carter somehow made it home.
yatqb : 5/17/2017 9:53 pm : link
Talk about slow.
I think we see a position player pitch
Joey from GlenCove : 5/17/2017 9:54 pm : link
Tonight.
Talked too soon.
yatqb : 5/17/2017 9:54 pm : link
Haha...robbed Sanchez of a ribbie, but we can spare the run.
I wouldn't love that call
bigbluehoya : 5/17/2017 9:55 pm : link
In a close game. Was there conclusive evidence that he didn't whiff on the tag? If he tagged him, it beat the foot hitting home, but I'm not 100% sure there was a tag.

No big deal. Freight train rolls on.
Detroit needs to come through for us
Greg from LI : 5/17/2017 9:56 pm : link
After letting us down last night. So sick of the Orioles hanging around by eking out a bunch of close games.
I think the tag was pretty clear
Greg from LI : 5/17/2017 9:58 pm : link
Between the two angles, looked conclusive to me.
As slow as Carter is,
section125 : 5/17/2017 9:58 pm : link
he was safe if he was either on the dugout side of the line or he keeps his foot extended - not a good slide. But still a perfect throw to get him. And he did hustle on the grounder to prevent the DP.

Sanchez is poison - keeps getting runners thrown out at home.
Merrifield HR
Del Shofner : 5/17/2017 9:58 pm : link
10-3
To add to that 10-run stat
dpinzow : 5/17/2017 9:58 pm : link
Last year, the Yanks scored 10 or more runs in a game 9 times the entire season. This year they have already scored 10 or more runs in a game 8 times
Who the hell is Whit Merrifield??
Greg from LI : 5/17/2017 10:01 pm : link
C'mon, Mike
Big Mike
bigbluehoya : 5/17/2017 10:01 pm : link
Is throwing too many strikes.

I love that he's attacking hitters but when he goes up in the zone for setup pitches he needs to miss by more.

No problem with Pineda attacking the strike zone with every pitch with the huge lead. Pineda's job is to get outs as quickly as possible and a solo HR won't change much
Toronto getting hammered by Atlanta
Greg from LI : 5/17/2017 10:11 pm : link
Man, I love that. They're just as big assholes as ever, too - Jason Motte struck out Kevin Pillar, and Pillar starting screaming at him for jogging off the mound before the ump made the call.

Love seeing them suck.
I didn't see the full clip before
Greg from LI : 5/17/2017 10:18 pm : link
Motte kind of quick pitched him. Haha...tough shot.

Now Bautista hits a solo homer and starts strutting around and running his mouth. Just a clown team from too to bottom.

Sure. But this is also where he's been hit in other situations this year. I was referring more to his body of work this season than just tonight.

Clearly he's miles better than he was last year. Progress
Pineda K's out of a jam -
Del Shofner : 5/17/2017 10:26 pm : link
I think Big Mike may be done for the night, but not bad ...
Another decent outing for Pineda.
yatqb : 5/17/2017 10:27 pm : link
As good as we can expect w/re to consistency.
Old friend Justin Wilson nails down a Tigers win
Greg from LI : 5/17/2017 10:27 pm : link
It was actually a terrible call - Machado held up. He'll if I care, though.
Hicks must play

Hicks is doing great but the 4-outfielder system as a whole seems to be working pretty well, I wouldn't rush to change things.

Surprised Big Mike is still in there - they quickly get a hit off him.
Can you imagine
River : 5/17/2017 10:38 pm : link
If we had McCann,Arod,Tex,Beltran all those guys clogging up the new talent on the team this year?
ump squeezing Pineda now

.
Headley
Del Shofner : 5/17/2017 10:39 pm : link

Headley bouncing the ball off his damn head now

not exactly Clete Boyer out there
Del Shofner : 5/17/2017 10:41 pm : link
(OK, I'm old - you can pick Nettles too)
So much for the improved Headley
Greg from LI : 5/17/2017 10:42 pm : link
He's back to stinking up the place. Stopped hitting and erratic in the field again.

Start the Gleyber countdown.

And joy of joys we get Joe West tomorrow night.....
Yup, Del, more a Steve Sax at 3B.

Lefty at the dish and he brings in Warren.

Probably, but 9 pitches to get a lefty batting .159 out.
Don't start the Girardi shit...cmon
Greg from LI : 5/17/2017 10:49 pm : link
Who should he bring in? The only lefty in the pen at the moment is Shreve, and Warren is just a much better pitcher than him.
10-4 on the sac fly -
Del Shofner : 5/17/2017 10:49 pm : link
c'mon Warren - get the 3rd out here.

OK - 10-4 after 7 with Warren in there...

... hopefully no big surprises before we get 6 more outs.
