He had a hot couple of months early on before reverting to the same player he's always been. An out machine who is one of the very worst infielders I've ever seen.

His homer off Verlander was the only positive moment in a brutal playoff loss but yeah true. Technically he made the allstar team tho lol.
But yeah, the Giants seem to love him. He's had a bad season despite 11 SBs
They're not bringing him up straight from AA, and honestly so long as they're winning and the rest of the lineup is killing it, I don't think they're in a hurry to replace Headley, lousy though he is.
looks like it - not sure how he got #30. There are still some Mel Stottlemyre fans out there - not that it should be retired, but giving it to your #12 pitcher or whatever - can't agree with that.
Right now Ellsbury should be the 4th OF with Hicks full time in CF or LF. Gardner, Hicks, Judge - left to right - is a very strong defensive OF. Gardy with the weakest arm that is still very accurate with sufficient strength. Better hitting threesome too.
RE: the weird thing is, Headley used to be a great 3b
He was considered more a of glove-first guy before he had that one career year at the plate for the Pads.
Maybe it is time to start Torryes - or give him equal time. Could go two days at 3rd, one at SS and one at 2B. He is a decent (if not plus) fielder and he handles the bat well too. Right now in a clutch situation, I'd rather see Torreyes at the plate than Headley (unless a HR is needed).

Agree 100%. He's simply a far better player than Ellsbury right now. The only reason Ellsbury will continue to start over him is his fucking contract. Hicks has absolutely earned the right to be an every day player at this point - if he starts to slump you can re-evalutate, but right now the guy needs to be in the lineup every day.

My memory is Headley was very good in the field his first season with the Yanks too. There was rumor he was playing with a shoulder injury last year that fucked with his throwing...but he's been a debacle catching the ball as well as throwing it for a while now
He seems like a nice enough guy, but we're all counting down to the start of the Torres era at this point
Either Ells or Hicks starting to take some grounders at 1B?
Hopefully a moot point with Bird close to back (and hopefully hittigng), but having the flexibility to get those 4 OF bats in the lineup without benching Holliday would be nice.
a break from last night's double error - he clearly lost the ball in the lights and made a hurried throw. Should have eaten the bobble. You can excuse the bobble because of losing it in the lights, but the throw is non excusable.

Kay said Hicks took grounders before the 1st game. Never played a game at 1st base ever at any level from Little League on up. Very uncomfortable there.
Ells is too short.

agree
It's a de facto 4-man outfield rotation as it is -
Judge cheated ... will get his revenge in due course ...
At least 3 meatballs he missed in that at bat. Thought that was ball 4, but truly to close to take. Ump has been back and forth with that call.
Atleast Nunez became an Allstar player
Headley just sucks so bigly
Just to piss you off, at least Headley put it in play and knocked in a run.
Now, when does Torres get the call?

prophetic!
All you ever do, both on these threads and Giants threads, is whine.

BS asshole
Castro can flat out hit. And he's getting better at 2b. I can live with his occasional brain fart.
I could live with Headley being a weak bat if he wasn't such a shitty 3b. Keep a good though: he's only keeping the seat warm for Torres.

Carter appears to be warming up at the plate.

Judge 36
Gardy 34
Ells 32
Hicks 30
