Should be fun.
On a side note.

Yesterday some jackass got on the radio with Joe and Evan saying the Yankees offense while beating up on Jason Hamel the night before are going to get a wake up call because Jason Vargas with his 1.05 ERA has been unhittable and it will be a different story going up against the best pitcher going in the majors.

Yeah it was a different story. Vargas had the wake up call against a team that had scored the most runs to this point in the season. As a matter of fact Hamel faired better then Vargas. I believe the term this jackass used to describe Hamel was tomato can. I think Vargas looked more like the so called tomato can then Hamel.

Joe has been giving his outfielders days off on a schedule and it's Gardy's turn, no big deal.
Huh. A set day-off schedule?

I'm not opposed to that.

If things stay like this I think Gardy can have his best year
Stu11 : 5/18/2017 6:38 pm : link
his balls to the wall style of play always leads him to wear down in the 2nd half. With basically 4 starting OF's its going to keep them all fresh and could really help. They all have played well so there is no reason to sit any of them a lot. Rotating off days is a great idea. I really am starting to buy that this team can contend for the division all year. Pineda and Sevi will be the key in the starting rotation. I think the Royals will be an interesting team to watch. If it keeps going like this they will back up the truck and they have SP's that can help us. I would not be adverse to bringing back Ian Kennedy. He's a solid 3rd starter type that wouldn't cost us a top prospect.
Too
BocaGiants91 : 5/18/2017 6:43 pm : link
Much money for Kennedy in the next few years. They wont do that.
ouch yea I was lazy didn't look up his contract
Stu11 : 5/18/2017 6:52 pm : link
It is a doozy. I still might do it because he will cost us virtually nothing to trade for and its 3 years after this. Its not like we have a ton of pitching prospects on the horizon. He might slot in nicely in the rotation for the next few years if healthy.
I never liked Kennedy
Greg from LI : 5/18/2017 8:00 pm : link
Yeah, it's been ten years now, but the first thing I think of when I hear his name is still his excuse making when he was getting lit the hell up as a rookie - "I'm actually pitching well"

thanks - I guess it's not going to go in a straight line for a rookie pitcher.

but I read on BBI that the Yanks are doomed if they didn't sweep KC!

Up 1.5 on the division - 2.5 would have been nice but still in good shape - on to Tampa ...

Montgomery and Severino (and maybe in July, Adams) are going to have stretches where they will look like front-of-the-rotation guys- and then have stretches that make you wonder if their next start will be in SWB.

Such is life with rookie SP. On the other hand, I prefer going with the young SP because you can see the upsdie and know they will be even better in the future- where with guys like CC, you know what they were and they are now just a shadow of that- which is even more frustrating than dealing with the ups and downs of young SP.
