He forced the 2nd most missed tackles for a WR in NFL history. Only Calvin Johnson was ahead of him. That was the year he almost had 2000 yards. Odell is so good. I'm so happy we get to watch him play. Most exciting player in the NFL.

I can't wait to see him this year. I think he's going to have the best season of his career. In his first 3 years we literally had nobody that scared defenses. So they could double and triple team him. Now with Marshall, Engram, Perkins & Z Shepard they most likely won't be able to do that. If they do Marshall, Shepard & Engram are going to have great seasons.

The way I see it, everyone should feast off of everyone. OBJ makes EVERYONE around him better and TE Engram, maybe be late in the season, may be able to do the same with his style of play. Bottom line is the future is bright and Eli should have "someone" open every play and it will be his job to get the ball to the open guy. Don't force the ball or try for the big play that isn't really there cause you don't need to do that this year.

We need to get to fourth quarters with a lead and let our rested defense dominate.

I agree. We should always have someone open. Just gotta hope that the OL can keep Eli upright.

I also don't think it will take to the end of the season for Engram to make an impact. I think his game translates very well to the NFL. Similar to Sterling Shepard last year. That's obviously if we use him correctly. He needs to be used just like Skins use Reed. If we do that I think he could make an impact week 1. I'm just hoping they don't try to play him as an inline TE early on in his career.

Engram will certainly make an impact right out of the gates. No way we sit him early given he is a first round pick AND has speed down the middle that you MUST account for every single play. However, as is the case with most rookies, he may not be a "stud" right out of the gates as he has to learn the offense and nuances of the game.
I hope I'm wrong and he puts the NFL on FIRE much like OBJ did his rookie year (less the missed early games due to injury....).
I mean, with 2nd year Sharpe; big veteran redzone receiver Brandon Marshall; TE/Slot HBack Enrgram; 2nd year RB Perkins, healthy Dwarka & Vereen; 2nd year Adams & veterans Ellison & Tye; well, how can you not see us having an open guy every play.
The key to our offense this year should be moving the ball. Just get first downs like New England does and go downfield when those safeties cheat up...or when clearcut mis-matches present themselves.
I would not be surprised if our TE's and RB's both had over 100 receptions each.
But most importantly, I think we have redzone offense personnel this year. So long as our OL improves a bit, we should do just fine on offense this year including running the ball behind blocking TE's.
yeah

wearing a Giants jersey. I watched some highlights just to remind myself of how special he is. It's disturbing how effortless he makes it look.

every time I watch that slant TD vs Dallas I expect him to get tackled at least 3 different times ...he's probably the only player in the league that scores on that play.
Sure, let's give TEs and RBs over 100 receptions each,
Ivan15 : 5/19/2017 9:52 am : link
that leaves 200 receptions for all the WRs, if Eli can complete 400 of 600 passes in an offense now hoping to achieve better run-pass balance.

Someone is not going to be happy.
the play against the Eagles

where he destroyed an angle on the pursuing LBer and then juked and spun away from 2 other defenders and ended up taking a knee in front of 5 Eagles defenders was something else. His burst is cartoonish.

He had a lot of drops this year and he needs to become more consistent in that aspect. But his YAC-skills were otherworldly this past season.

Those 2 punt return TDs being called back due to penalties is unfortunate. They were both incredible impressive but completely different.

He has the talent to be legendary, he just needs to focus on being more consistent and not letting things get under his skin so much.
Only if he caught the ball

Cartoonish is a great word. At his best, he looks like Emmett Smith in Madden '94.

I see us being highly efficient, with Eli going to the wide open, easy throw moreso this year than any in his career. OBJ will always draw double teams; Marshall can still beat a #2 corner; Engram will create matchup issues; so that means the RB and other TE's will not be covered well.

New England won the SB not only because ATL was stupid allowing Ryan to throw late and getting intercepted BUT because they had a 2 to 1 play ration over ATL and completely wore them down. When New England won the coin toss in OT, it was over. Our offense can also suck the life out of defenses, keeping our defense fresh.

Also, if we move the ball well between the 25's, we now have redzone threats in Marshall, Engram and possibly others. So we should be scoring more TD's, at least theoretically.

How hard could it be to imagine 60 catches for Vereen; 30 catches for Perkins, and 10 or more catches for the rest? How hard could it be to see Engram catch 60 and the rest 40? This all assumes good health, of course, but these numbers are reasonable to me.
hmmm

weird stat
i mean OBJ didn't make defense "miss" tackles
he freaking outran them!!!

looking back last season i was actually surprised how few times OBJ was actually tackled cleanly
he either outran people and get into end zone
stepped out of bounds
or gave himself up
