This may be a real stupid question considering I've had Fios for a good number of years. Probably going to have to call them but don't want to spend the hour waiting if I can get info here. The router I have has to be about 5 years old, maybe more. First question is should routers be upgraded every few years ? Not crazy about performance. Second question, I'm pretty sure I never bought the router but there's nothing on the bill that speaks to renting the router. Shouldn't there be a charge for that if it's not owned? Last, Verizon is selling one for $150. If I buy one, and there is a buried fee, there should be a reduction in my monthly bill? Is that right?
End of story, there wasn't any savings on the bill since we did not rent the original router. I believe you do need to return the original router since it was not purchased when you receive the new one.
The Quantum TV features enable ability to watch DVR and Live TV on other devices in the home and the upgrade is required for that with new boxes. The older boxes were not functioning very well anyhow.
