the first thing that comes to mind is two Super Bowls, numbers XLII & XLVI. In both, Eli Manning and the New York Giants beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots to become World Champions. In each of these Super Bowls Eli Manning was named MVP. By winning his 2nd MVP Award, Eli Manning became a member of a small group of QB's that have multiple MVP Awards. Manning joined a group that includes: Bart Starr, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, and Tom Brady. There are only five QB's to have more than one MVP Award; and Eli is in that elite group.
The second thing I think of was Tom Brady and the New England Patriots were gracious in defeat.
The third, what a fantastic QB Tom Brady is.
At 39 years young, he won another Super Bowl last season.
Tom Brady will be 40 years young at the start of the upcoming season and has been quoted as saying he feels great and wants to play until at least 45.
We have had this discussion about Eli and at what age he will retire.
Brady thinks his career won't end for at least 5 more years, what do you think?

As for Eli, I also believe he has 2017 and 2018 as he's been healthy throughout his career but beyond that I just don't know. Your legs tend to go first. I remember Dan Marino in one year could no longer side-step the rush and became a sitting duck, unable to be the stud QB he once was.
Brady and Manning both seem to have the right work ethic and dedication. Both seem to lead a decent lifestyle. Both have
been lucky or tough enough to avoid injury. What their ancestors have bequeathed to them of Eternal Youth only time
will tell. I see both playing past 40.
I think a lot of QBs will play until their late 30's, and some into their early 40s.
The Patriots have had an unusual off-season. They played their chess pieces very much like a team that is going all-in this year, sacrificing draft picks for veteran players in the last year of their contracts. And the fact that they held onto Garoppolo at his time of peak trade value also fits with the theory that his will be Brady's last (and that Garoppolo will be his successor).
It wouldn't surprise me if there is an understanding between Kraft, Belichick, and Brady that this is his last year, but they didn't want all the media attention and hooplah/distractions that would come with a farewell tour; and so they made the strategic decision to present the opposite front publicly. Had Brady said something as harmless and reasonable as "I feel great, but at my age you take it one year at a time"--it would've meant a whole season of endless questions about "is this it for Brady? Is this his last game vs the Jets, vs the Dolphins, vs whoever?, is this his last home game?, does he retire after the Super Bowl? etc, etc, etc."
Patriots win, Brady
Giants win, Montana
I base that mostly off of Patriots 0-2 in SBs against Giants, while 49ers 2-0 in SBs against Bengals.
For that alone, I'd put Montana over Brady, but if Brady ever went down to 0-3, it would be overwhelming.
BTW, it wouldn't matter if the Giants beat the Patriots again as a flawed wildcard or the '86 team revisited. In either situation it only reinforces that Brady just wasn't good enough to beat NYG instead of it being a fluke like many fans believe.

Bahahahahaha
I know he's said he wants to play until he's 45. I also want to win the lottery tomorrow. My guess is that he has one or two more good years left before a precipitous decline in performance. That's why I think they're holding onto Garoppolo.
But then I spotted the stutter-step by Edelman at the 1:05 mark in the below video of it. It was an under-throw and Edelman had to slow down for it. If the throw was deeper, Edelman splits the defenders for an uncontested catch. Was it just a poorly thrown ball or an example of Brady's arm not doing for him what he's accustomed to it doing for him?
Brady to Edelman--Super Bowl - ( New Window )
His agent says basically NOTHING, he wasn't diagnosed with
a concussion last year, no shit Sherlock, he wasn't on any
injury report for a concussion....The rest was basically propaganda, sounded like a politician. As I mentioned,
somebody a 'lyin! The moral of the story I guess, as an
NFL player, don't tell your wife you suffered a concussion?
In the range of modern athletes his foibles and flaws are minor.
He is not on our team so I don't follow or care very much.
I don't know him or Gisele so I don't know what they are like. Never will.
Somehow he elicits reactions and unknowable projections.
Funny to watch

Brady could lose 4 super bowls in a row and Montana wouldn't come close to him.
Not everyone gets to beat on the Bengals...
what the fuck? a little hostile about someone you've never even met...are you not happy with your life or something? go outside its nice out today

I think about the douchebag who campaigned for Earth Hour, telling us all to turn off our lights for an hour to save the planet, but had no problem taking his friends in a private plane from Massachusetts to Kentucky to watch the Derby, and then from Kentucky to Nevada to watch a fight, and then back to Massachusetts. Oh, and how many houses do he and his wife own? The hypocritical cetriole can go fuck himself.

I'm sorry. Please forgive me for having an issue with a hypocritical putz like Tom Brady. "Do as I say, not as I do" may be okay by you, but not by me.

I guess you didn't see Montana play much. Few, if any, have played the QB position as well as Joe Montana.

Thank-you ....
btw, Brady has mentioned many times that Montana was his hero growing up.
I'm sorry. I thought you actually typed that Eli is better than Brady.
Of course he is.

Took the words right out of my mouth, Milton. This is the way I've viewed their offseason as well.

Come to think about it .... whoever had the 49'ers cutting/trading Joe Montana? Yet, his last 2-3 years were with the Chiefs.
Granted .... Bill Walsh was a cold wolf - known for letting talent go before their decline rather than keeping them for a year or 2 ... to long. It is a business. We will see how this ends. Might be entertaining (especially to non Patriot fans).
